Following the cues of many individuals around here, I decided to adapt Zatanna with a variable power instead of a direct magic array. However, I included two variants on the variable power; one for more versatile effects such as flight and mystic blasts at the same time (towards which she has 60pp) and up to 70pp of the 'one trait at a time' version of the power. Anyway, other than that, Zatanna really is what I'd personally call a plot device character, but she's probably at least semi-playable. Semi as in not at all outside of a really, really generous GM. :P

Well, if I'm going to create one major variable power using sorceress from comics, I might as well build two of them at once. I took a few cues from Thorpacolypse and Taliesin's builds when it came to the general power modelling, but I basically inserted a few creative tweaks of my own. One of these is that I included the flight power as a separate extra because I thought it made sense; she's always depicted as flying in the art, so I included it.

I owe quite a bit with this one to glancing at the J-Mart build for her (mostly in that I didn't previously know how to model the time bombs due to not actually working with builds that followed this sort of style; as you can see, I tend to have an affinity for paragons :P), but I took it off in a bit of a different direction in places. one of those places was that I decided to expand a bit on the actual nature of the blasts themselves, covering a general explosion, a cluster explosion, and also a single focused penetrating blast attack. She represents the very last member of the Nextwave team that I needed to adapt, though, and I figured that I might as well just get it over with.

You're quite welcome. I also remember that I need to stat-up Nico Minoru (yet another sorceress) and probably the rest of the Runaways team. Modelling her is much easier said than done, though.

I've recently been reading through the Dark Phoenix storyline. It took me long enough to get around to it, but it inspired me to actually adapt one of the two most iconic redheads in Marvel Comics. And that's saying something, when you really think about it. :P Anyway, taking a few cues from Taliesin's build, but also incorporating a few things from wiki articles, and experience with the versions of the character from the myriad cartoons and the films, here's the pre-Phoenix Jean Grey, also known at one point as Marvel Girl. She's probably the only member of the X-Men for whom it took me about ten years to find out the existence of a superhero name for as it was never mentioned in either the cartoons, the films, or what few comics I actually bothered reading.

Okay, the reasons behind certain things; I've seen her defend herself with force-fields while lifting things at the same time before in the comics, so I made the array wide. But she also appears to have to concentrate to the point of having to stay relatively immobile. She can move, but she doesn't dodge, and thus the whole array is distracting to use. She's well-defended while using it, though, given the force-field.

Thanks. :D I'm also working on creating her as Phoenix and Dark Phoenix. Since she's one of the single most powerful members of the X-Men, that'll require quite a bit of attention I feel.

Jean's a little less playable (to say the least!) in this incarnation, capable of far more versatility in both telekinesis and telepathy to the point of insanity. She's not quite on what I'd call the Tetsuo Tier yet, but she's close enough in some areas. Anything she isn't yet capable of can be power-stunted off of her Psychokinetic Array, but she's vastly powerful, able to give even some of my Superman builds a run for their money without too much difficulty. Next up; possibly Dark Phoenix, who I'm basically just debating using a variable power for.

From the same school as Captain Planet, this rather preachy hero actually preaches gospel as a general theme of his; basically, he's Bibleman. And that's all there is to it. I will admit right ahead that I adapted this one due to its overwhelming joke factor, and that it inspires me to create an atheist superhero as counter. Except that finding a common atheist cause is rather difficult as it's not really a belief system, and the closest qualifying system is humanism. Or nihilism. Or objectivism. Or any number of systems which merely reject the existence of a deity.

And here's the other half of Willow and Tara, as of her last appearance. Though she wasn't all that powerful to start off with, Tara did actually start to become much more powerful as she went on; despite the fact that though she wasn't too much weaker than Willow, she was far more likely to hold back her full measure of power and use her powers more wisely than her girlfriend. When she did show power, she showed a rather high amount of it. This build is built partially in preparation of Dark Willow. If I'm going to adapt Dark Phoenix, I might as well adapt the incident it later inspired.

Ah yes, Willow Rosenberg; very, very powerful, but ultimately weaker than, say, the typical comic book mystic (even though, in season eight, she is a comic book mystic). Where she excels in this is her versatility, I think. She can do practically anything from hurling cars about to teleporting to just about anywhere in the known galaxy given a full-action. I haven't counted in any Astral Projection, Dimension Travel or other such as they're often shown as tiring for her to do or as part of a big ritual, as such I've basically slapped the ritualist feat on her and given her a very high rank of Arcane Lore. Anything else, such as far more incidental portals, can be handled via power-stunting off of her magic array, given extra effort.

She is a few pp over the typical PL10 mark, but I didn't think she warranted being a full PL11. It's best to handle established characters as NPCs anyway.

Update, 23rd August 2009; I've cleaned up the build to use this to reflect Season 5 and 6 Willow. Far more reliant on rituals, and still in a relationship with Tara. Also technically the most powerful character of the era; it didn't quite seem right to me that Willow was PL10 when Buffy was PL12, but I'm going to also create Dark Willow and Season 7 Willow as a pair of follow-ups.
