I haven't seen the episode yet. But I have myself wondered if these people watch the show or know what popular culture is.

Thinking more on it, i think its amazing that one look was 'safe' when it had gaping holes in the back. You'd think THAT would have been an automatic fail

My wife and I don't normally watch this show, but tooned in for the Super Hero one. We were really saddened that there did not really appear to be any good 'hero' looks among them. There were some cool designs, but none of them made me think that I would ever go to a comic shop and say that I wanted to read about that hero.

As to the one with the missing back...we were both flabbergasted that they were safe as well.

Considering what DC has said in the past about animé inspired art, I am really surprized that that robot chick got any kind of accolade. Then again, I truly wonder if not only the contestants know what a Superhero is (they clearly don't) but if the judges have ever read a comic book either. And Glen "V-Neck" Hetrick's self published V-Neck-Man doesn't count...

having watched the show I feel safe to say....

God, that was bloody awful.

Have any of these people actually read a comic before??

I thought the robot girl was very much like a similar character in Alan Moore and Jim Lee's WILDCATS run

I like the WildC.A.T.s a lot, and I can see a certain similarity, but I still don't think she was necessarily a Superhero, which seemed to be what the challenge was.

I did see the winner's creation in Justice League Dark, though. (Was it JLD? My friend showed it to me. I didn't care that much, heh)

ohhh man.. kinda bummed I keep missing the new season.. but from the comments here, it sounds like its still full of people barely acknowledging the theme or the critique given to them..

Is this true? otherwise, i may have to start using my DVR..

I missed this last night. What was the challenge? and did Scott Pilgrim win for the 4th time?

They had to make a character inspired by candy. They were all candy monsters. Scott Pilgrim did not win. I was also disappointed by the superhero episode.

It was neat. I would like to see a make-up challenge that wasn't tied to an upcoming movie/comic/TV show/commercial though :(

Caught up on this show this weekend via SyFy's marathon and my own DVR selection..

and it seems I'm just in time for it to start getting good. There's a 1 or 2 people left that don't seem in the same league as the others, but they might just have that extra something to make it to the finals.

Though I am starting to sense a little 'Chopped'-type ridiculousness creeping into the show. The time limits are kinda silly, give these guys more time to actually wow the judges. And speaking of judges, Glen gets more ridiculous with his icy stare and imposing glare as time goes on. Only Ve seems obviously cognizant of the challenge and difficulty the contestants face to finish their work. That said though, he definitely read my mind about Eric F. in the "Howl By the Moon" challenge..

But, I've now gotten the wife interested in the show; so we'll be eagerly following it from here on out.. and hope the contestants raise the bar and start producing some really crazy designs..

They really had to stretch to get their product placement in last night didn't they?
