This is true, but my instinct when confronted by competing background options is to see if I can't work both into the story somehow.

Besides, the mental image of the Dark Undermaster offerring this idea to Mr Hoppy as a bribe to persuade him to leave off pranking his domains into devastation - and Mr Hoppy actually accepting - is pretty priceless and would rather speak volumes about both characters . . .

Mister Hoppy loves the Dark Undermaster, he does a great job of establishing evil as FUN.

That would have been my guess, but I suspect that being a particular favourite of Mr Hoppy just makes it even more likely that he'll 'Prank' you in his own thankfully inimitable fashion.

NEWS FROM THE FRONT!

Dateline 1944, As American soldiers fight to free Europe from the iron grip of fascism, they are plagued by an increasing number of strange and bizarre super soldiers, twisted abominations created in the mad vision of Adolph Hitler, in his attempts to create a Master Race which will allow him total control of the world.

Perhaps the most foul of these creations is the nefarious SS Squid, the worlds first fascist invertebrate, who reaches out across Europe with his grasping tentacles to crush the fragile fishes that are freedom and hope, and feed them into the gaping maw of the Nazi War Machine.

Who can stop this sinister Squid? Who can beat back this oppressive octopus?

Why, The Liberty Men can of course!

*Thwap!* Who needs eight arms when you have Kung Fu Kings moves?

*Biff! Pow! Whack! Slam!* but then again maybe not.

And there he goes, swimming back to the fatherland like the spineless jellyfish he is. Maybe Hitler should reconsider his sea food diet.

Well the SS Squid may have escaped, but he'll be back, and the Liberty Men will be waiting for him, ready to fight the good fight against the forces of evil. In the meantime, this sure will make one heck of a fish story for the boys back home!

Super Alcatraz to play host to its first death row inmate.

Just three days after his capture at the hands of the Foundation for World Harmony, the trial of serial murderer and rapist Milton Miers has concluded with a verdict of Guilty and a sentence of execution. Never in the history of American Justice has such a high profile trial been resolved so quickly and efficiently, but not since Blood wing has there been a criminal as cruel and depraved as Milton Miers. Dubbed "The Mirror Man" by the press, Miers is a metaman with the ability to transport his consciousness between reflective surfaces and affect objects remotely, a power he used to murder over 50 people and commit more than three dozen acts of sexual assault, vandalism, and harassment over the past year.

Metaman rights groups, who normally give support to imprisoned metamen, were strangely quiet on the subject of Miers. Madame Tomorrow could not be reached for comment by this reporter, but the Phantom Archer was quoted as saying "Death is too good for a worm like Miers." Cassius Mass held a press conference on Genesis Island earlier today, condemning Miers' actions and applauding the efforts of the Foundation officers involved in the arrest, most notably Ashely Morgan, better known as the Deadly Naga, who headed the investigation. Sydney Smythe, the leader of the Church Of Mankind, also applauded the efforts of the Foundation for the capture of Miers, stating that this "was an auspicious day for the human race" and that Miers "was a perfect example of the kind of bottom feeding wretch the Meta-man truly is."

No date has yet been set for Miers execution; he is presently incarcerated in Super Alcatraz prison until the date is set. Miers will be the first super Criminal in the US to receive the Death Penalty, and it is unknown at this time whether he will be executed at Super Alcatraz or transported to another prison for the execution. Miers himself shows no remorse for the terrible crimes he has committed, and has been quoted as saying that he is "Far from done, far far from done."

Let's hope he's mistaken - One suspects that Alice would just love to make sure that he is.

Sorry to interrupt Crinos when he's obviously on a roll with his quite colorful in-game narratives of various Super-Alcatraz inmates, but I figured I'd do a quick follow-up on the Candy Crew. Forthwith, I'll briefly describe the remaining members and give a few more details about the gang.

(Note: I like what Crinos is doing so much, I'll try to do any of my further additions to the thread in the same style).

Laffy Taffy: This elastic villain was a long-time childhood friend of Maurice "Manny" Monko, AKA the Candy Czar. Seeking an escape from his mundane life, he began aiding his chum in the Candy Czar's early criminal escapades, serving as a driver, decoy, and lookout. A latent Metaman, he gained his powers of stretching and resiliency when Candy Czar treated him to mutagenic fudge and gene-o-tonic candy cocktail. He was the closest to the gang leader in his sense of fun and adventure during the Silver Age.

Sweet Tooth: Though rather cowardly, Sweet Tooth's powers proved to be quite the distraction for many of the Candy Crew's foes. His candy-scented pheromones could trigger insatiable hunger for sweets, nauseate opponents through a massive sugar rush, or create instant fatigue in others from temporary hypo-glycemia.

He also had the power to eat and digest almost anything Sweet Tooth could shove into his mouth, as the enzymes in his sytem broke down matter on the molecular level. More than one power ring or mystic amulet found its' way down his gullet.

Gobstopper: A large, extremely overweight woman, Gobstopper could take on the properties of "living candy", becoming everything from a bouncing human gumball to a gummy semi-solid shape to a super-durable "rock candy" form; she also possessed mild super-strength at times, though this varied from one encounter to the next. She served as the group's muscle, though her ponderous physique made her and obvious target in combat.

Unknown to all until she was rescured by the now largely forgotten Futuremen, Gobstopper was actually a transformed and mind-controlled Brittney Blake, the girlfriend of a Silver Age hero named Fusion the Nuclear Wizard. Fortunately, Dr. Solomon and his protege Judy Gold (Amazing Girl) were able to undo her brainwashing.

Alice personally resents any implication she's not the most prolific and dangerous serial killer in America after Blood Wing.

Her friend Mister Rabbit would have been lying otherwise!

Of course, Daft Alice's body count is quite a bit below that of Bloodwing's tally, but she would argue this is quality of work over quantity.

Daft Alice selects her victims carefully, only going after those who prey on children; she also follows a distinctive motif of dispatching her targets with methods inspired by Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass. Bloodwing was far less discriminating in his choice of victims, and while he murdered spectacularly and often quite cleverly, his choice of killing techniques varied wildly.

The question of the all-time most brilliant serial murderer is a matter of argument. Bloodwing certainly displayed a much wider range of knowledge and skills during his career; the villain's array of athletic and intellectual skills was astounding, marking Bloodwing as a true Renaissance Man. Still, his abilities and even memory seemed erratic, almost certainly the result of his aberrant mental state. While Alice is clearly psychotic (as well as psychopathic) her genius in the fields of chemistry and engineering is apparently unaffected by her insanity. Many of her weapons and gimmicks border on the uncanny.

Of course, Alice is still alive and kicking (sometimes literally), so there is still time for the Belicose Brit to exceed Bloodwing's total, as the Scarlet Scourge is long dead.

Rumors to the contrary notwithstanding, Bloodwing is dead....really.....

Yeah, Gray was largely embellishing with calling Miers the worst killer since Bloodwing. In truth Alice is a better (and smarter) killer than Miers. Miers, at the end of the day, is just some grubby little scumbag who would have never had the backbone to act out his sick fantasies if he didn't gain the power to do so almost undetected. In fact when The Foundation did finally track him down, he pretty much gave up without a fight (which sucked, because Ashley really wanted to kick his ass).

Unlike Bloodwing and Alice, Mirror Man isn't really a supervillain, he's a serial killer who happens to have a super power. If I end up being the one who writes up stats for the guys I've made (not sure about if that would be the case), I'd put Miers at about PL 6.
