2E: The Great Monster Hunt, Game 1

The templates I got from on here. I can't remember where. The abe vegotas are from one of the books. The robots are Sentinel builds from XMen fame and King Ghidorah is a bit obvious. This was our first Adventure that I GMed. Never GMed M&M 2E, pretty awesome.

They are teleported from wherever.

You arrive in a large campus that is encapsulated in a giant energy dome. It looks like a standard college campus ripped from the earth and in the middle of white space. You enter a large room/gymnasium with 7 beds. You notice there are refrigerators; upon inspection they are filled with various foods, except one filled with what looks like live bugs and vials of thick blue liquid. The setup is basically the size of a few stadiums and has varying terrains and temperatures throughout, in the center there is a 100 foot tall Gazebo with a humanoid figure in the center.

You approach the Gazebo and you see a grey skinned humanoid that stands roughly 50 feet tall and looks to be very old. His hair is stone white and is standing up. He is wearing a teal robe and looks like some kind of religious figure. There are a number of rings on his left hand and each one seems quite old. When he speaks, his words are loud and hollow like you are standing in a hallway with great acoustics. His eyes are a very pale green and he doesn’t look at any of you directly, he’s just looking forward. While speaking you notice that his words seem awkward like he doesn't know the language, just these words. He doesn’t seem interested in conversation he seems to be dictating.

“I have been known by many names but you can call me Gambler. I have been around longer than most things and I have gathered you all here because that is what I always do at this time. There is a threat that will eliminate many of the universes in our multiverse, each of yours included. Some of you have names for this space, Limbo, the Bleed, between-space and others. You were brought here to protect your worlds as a team because none of you have any hope to accomplish this alone. As individuals you are not powerful enough to accomplish this, but your whole is greater than the sum of its parts. I have brought you to here so you may train. If you would like constructs to train against all you need to do is say my name and the request and it will appear. The constructs have information on what you will be battling against. I will keep you here for an equivalent to 6 of your months so you may become familiar with each other and your enemy so that you will have the potential to work as the team that you are meant to be. I will return then you will do what you are destined to save your worlds.”

Upon looking around you find a box about the size of a shoe box that is locked. After much force and coercion you discover that you are not able to open it. “That box is a container of great power. It’s sealed by a magical aura that cannot be broken except who is destined to do so. Ask me anything. “

You see Gambler approach the barracks walking slowly considering his size. When he is roughly 300 feet from the Gazebo a large bolt of what looks like green lightning strikes Gambler 4 times. Gambler hits the ground and raises his left hand in the air and a rainbow of various colored energies shoots into the sky. One larger blast of bright blue energy hits Gambler and he looks like he’s dying. He looks in your direction and two red beams shoot out of his eyes towards you.

You arrive in the middle of an intersection. Cars look tossed around and buildings are destroyed. This looks like some kind of Warzone metropolis. Dave hears over his power suit communicator “Metahumans, eliminate the threat”

The leader is a man named Golova Chenakov and they seem to be in rough shape. Their tents have holes the size of large dogs and their medical staff seems to be running out of supplies. Soldiers have old T-Shirts for dressings and some don’t even get that much. Chenakov is about 6'5" well built with blonde hair and blue eyes. He seems to be fresher than his colleagues, no major injuries or recent scars. He does have a big scar on his right cheek that looks to be about the size of an apple.

"We are in enormous trouble and you guys may have come at the right time. We have a great deal of enemies to work against here and sure could use your help. You guys seemed pretty good out there and with your help we may be able to get to our objective. Will you help us? We can't offer much besides some rations and the fact that you are helping us try to get back to peace."

If no- offer them to stay a while anyway random attack more enemies.

If yes- “The enemy has taken over the old library, which was a historical site before all of this, and is pretty fortified. We need to get by their defenses so our Meta scout can get in and plant the IED with a 2 minute timer. Once inside he needs about 10 minutes to do what he needs to do. If they think we are military they will send reinforcement but since we got you guys it can look like an insurgent attack, which they don't send reinforcements. If you take them out quick they will know something is up. Once it’s planted he'll be spotted and needs cover to get back to base in 2 minutes. The explosion is going to be pretty big so he will need to get out fast in order to get to safety.”

Locked case contains “Trans dimensional Funnel” which allows transport across dimensional space. Imagine trying to get on a one lane expressway from the side of the road… and you’re a cockroach and the cars are unimaginable forces of energy.

Most of the planet has been wiped out we are all that’s left of our kind. The only one that could save us is my son Vladimir but his powers aren’t developed enough yet to get us out of here. He's a teleporter and he teleported to another earth once but only for a second with his friend Jimmy, Jimmy never came back. If he could focus enough…“

Just screams and panic.

Everything freezes and you see a large man in a trench coat with a really old looking longsword. He has brown hair and eyes, 6 foot, 200 lbs., fairly muscled. His age seems hard to determine. His skin and face make him look in his 30's but his eyes make him look much older. He is leaning on his sword with both hands.

“The robots you fought are from a universe known as 'The Shift'. It is a prison universe but it's also a repository for Monsters. Every universe had at least one, and most had a few. Once a reality had the ability to cross the bleed they were approached by something from the shift. They offered to take all the monsters in exchange for all of a certain element. We call it Element 8472 and most universes have it, if for some reason a universe doesn't have any they take the monsters anyway. About a year ago there was something like a prison break and all of the guards for the shift were reprogrammed as scouts. The 'Escapees' are still searching for the same element because they discovered it's power potential. Now they are sending out scouts to get the things they want and after that they send in a monster to take out the rest.”
