Art needed for DC alienverse

Postby greycrusader » Sun Feb 27, 2011 8:18 pm

Having recently turned in my part of the DC Atlas manuscript, I'm putting out a call for an assistance with the artwork.

All of this needs to be printed/reprinted post-2000, as stated in earlier threads. Art where the character(s) in question are centrally depicted is of course preferable

I intend to use the recent collection of R.E.B.E.L.S. for those characters. I'll check out various GL collections (Sinestro War onward) for Guardians and Zamorans. I could use help with the Controllers and the Manhunters (prior to becoming Sinestro Corps power batteries).

Others: Lady Styx, Maxima, Prince Gavyn/Starman, Vartox (yes, really), Ultra the Multi-Alien (yes-REALLY! I think he appeared in Batman/Superman, right?), the earlier Omega Men (besides Broot, Tigoor, and Darkfire), Mongul (father or son), Mogo (the planet GL), a pic of the Hyperclan Martians (White Martians), Faceless Hunter from Saturn (OK, tough one I admit), and maybe the Bizarro Justice League.

All my best....and thanks for any help.

Does the pic need to be of the Hyperclan, or of White Martians?

Either would suffice. I have comics depicting both, but no post-2000 ones.

I really think I need to stop buying as many comics and wait for more trades. But I can never tell exactly what I like that will end up being collected...

Same boat, man... I end up getting trades when my wife wants to thin out my longboxes for newer purchases, since she doesn't want me getting more long boxes.

I will have images for you forthcoming!

Oh man...thanks so much Flying Cobra.

Any of those work really well for the sourcebook. How'd you pull 'em up so fast?

I imagine the toughest post-2000 to find will be the Saturnian Koolars (may not really be necessary, given how brief the entry is in total). I don't they ever popped up outside the J'emm Son of Saturn mini in the 80s (I have the whole run, BTW).

I just regret my section couldn't be bigger. I had to cut a couple worlds, more descriptions of alien GLs like Boodika, Brik, Kilowog, and Salaak, and great villains like Karb-Brak, Zazzalla the Queen Bee, Starbreaker, and Grax (he schooled Brainiac once!); also would have liked to do Lady Quark from her L.E.G.I.O.N. days and the Ravers (Superboy's old star-hopping team of Aura, Kaliber, Half-Life, Hero, Sparx, and Rex the Wonder Dog).

Maybe if there's a fifth book...

A sad semi-encyclopedic knowledge, scanner, decent DC collection, and online search-fu... I actually enjoy doing and being a part of this, as you might notice from the other art request threads.

And I have a sneaking suspicion Jack Norris might be your man for The Faceless Hunter from Saturn....

And YAY, Vartox! Amanda Conner's rendition of him is sleazily priceless. I'll have him up tomorrow, unless someone beats me to him.

I wrote up Vartox as a cross between his original Bronze Age persona and the most recent appearance in Power Girl; the modern Vartox is less noble, but even the original had a temper, was overconfident (with good reason), and sometimes acted oddly by terran standards.

Since his post-Crisis incarnation is written as a bit under Superman levels, I cast him as PL 14, though he's still more versatile than the Man of Steel.

Similar to Mongul, who was at least PL 18 in the Bronze Age (he was physically stronger than that era's Superman) but only PL 13 now. I suppose the older version might be used as the ancestor of the Mongul clan, or a "52" variant.
