[2e] Kiai (Spirit Shout) in Hero Lab

Hi folks,

Anyone out there know how to create the Kiai (spirit shout) power?

This power comes from Mastermind's Manual and is not in the list of powers available on Hero Lab. I also bought the Ultimate Power Pack.

No worries. As per my reply to the post you made on the Lone Wolf forums, it's basically an Array of effects. Easiest way is to just add the effects you want, either as an Array or as a base power and alternates, and then rename them as you wish. If you want to build it into the system, look at the Magic power and the attendant Power Options, such as the Fog of Forgetfulness.

Thank you, FuzzyBoots!

But I think that Strike is the tricky effect: I have a character that is a unarmed attack specialist (with Attack Specialization and Improved Critical) and uses Kiai to improve the damage. With or without Kiai, I want that Attack Specialization and Improved Critical still apply for my unarmed attack.

I've tried with Magic, but got no success. :(

That does kind of get into GM decisions, but Steve Kenson (the creator of the system) has weighed in that a "narrow descriptor" should be fine for Attack Specialization and Improved Critical. I looked that up via Elric's index of Official Rules Questions answer, a very handy resource.

Basically, you'll want to copy the Magic power in the Hero Lab Editor. Change its name and description, and give it a Unique Id (whatever you want as long as it's not in use. When you click on the Copy button, you'll see what kinds of tags are already in use). You should be able to leave the rest of it unchanged for now. Now go to Fog of Forgetfulness under the Power Options tab and Copy it. Change the name, Id, and description, and change the Power Required to Kiai (or whatever you named your base power based on Magic's template). From there, you should be able to compile and run it. :) Let me know if that works for you.
