Deftly, but without any comment, The Amazing Randi steadies the globe, preserving the sanctity of his liquor.

Agent Scully reenters the room. Without any hesitation she tosses a pair of car keys to Buckeroo Banzai. She has a second pair which she extends towards Connor. However, when she sees a glass of what is clearly alcohol in his hand, she turns again. She hesitates at Lara Croft, and continues on muttering about left is right; right is left.

In a move that seems to be a surprise to even her, she hands the other pair of keys to Silent Bob. "Your cars are out front."
True to her word, you will find a pair of 2001 Lincoln Town Cars parked in front of the townhouse.
Remember that it is 2001.

Buckaroo Banzai

Buckaroo sat in silence for a moment contemplating other possible explanations for the strange occurrences. His train of thought was temporarily derailed when Mr. Hinckley started taking his clothes off. It was an odd thing to watch as there was almost no coordination or grace involved. When the man was finished, he was standing there is some sort of superhero costume. Since the man had been invited to join, Buckaroo had to presume that it was not merely for show.

"I'm sorry, Miss Croft was it? I've run a couple of different scenarios through my head and discounted all of them thus far. Another one just popped in a moment ago. Since Doctor Brown has traveled through time, it is likely that others may have found a way to accomplish it as well. Some of them may not be as conscientious as our Dr. Brown in preserving the time stream. Since the abductions, if that is what they truly are, are all children, it may be related directly to the temporal fluctuations. Consider this for a moment, what if these missing people would have grown up to become important? What if they were all scientists, politicians, law enforcement personnel, or others that someone in the future with access to time travel wanted to remove from existence for some reason? Some people might ask why this individual simply doesn't just prevent these people from being born? Maybe there is some factor that limits this individual from traveling further back in time than a specific date?"

Connor MacLeod
HP: 1 Condition: Normal

Connor nodded with understanding as Ralph explained what he could do.

"I possess an ability known as psychometry. I can touch an object, usually one that is near and dear to a subject, and see where that person is and approximately how far and in what direction they are. I can use this ability to find the missing children. I might also be able to use it to find the arsonist or arsonists, if what I have learned from the FBI and TV are correct about serial arsonists, that they take a very hands on approach with their work so their handiwork is something that is near and dear to them. If there is anything left of the incendiary devices that they used to start the fire, perhaps I can locate them as well."

”That will prove most useful, I think. We just might have a way in. If we can find something left by whoever started the fires we might be able to track them down. If not, we can start with some of the missing persons.“

Connor could relate to Ralph’s ability, somehow he could sense the proximity of others like himself. What Ralph could do seemed like a broader version of that, perhaps.

He was perusing the folders again, thinking about where they might start their search, when a slight commotion interrupted him. Ralph was now in an ill-fitting superhero suit, bright red with a black cape. Not exactly low-key and unobtrusive. Taking off a shoe, he had stumbled and bumped the globe, threatening to spill its valuable contents.

Connor reached out and helped Randi steady the globe, smiling at Ralph. ”Ummm… that’s quite the outfit you have there. Red suits you.“ Noting Lady Croft's expression, he shot her a glance that hopefully communicated his similar doubts. ”Between us all, I'm sure we have talents that will be able cover all eventualities.“

Silent Bob
HP 1

Bob winces at Ralphs transformation as it were. If he had any doubts he wasn't communicating them besides that briefest of seconds. When the keys are handed to him a complete look of surprise washes over his face before nodding and offering Scully a salute. He looks over his shoulder at the others and motions for them to come on. As he sits in the seats he marvels at the car. So luxurious. Maybe he should get one like that with his royalty check. Certainly beat riding the bus. He wasn't really sure which lead they were pursuing but he was sure someone would speak up.

Chun Li
Now that you have an unconscious guard on your hands, you'll need to figure out what to do with him. That may have been a sticking point in your plan.

Here's the entire lay-out...
The compound is about two miles off the nearest interstate, and connected by a private road. The road is a cheap tar & gravel affair, and so windy it's almost three miles long. When the road reaches the compound, it branches off. One branch connects to a small parking lot, the other branch goes through the main gate.

The parking lot is made the same way as the road, and on a busy day could hold about 80 cars. Most likely, your own vehicle is parked in this lot. Currently, there are about sixteen - twenty cars in the lot. Currently, Chun Li is at the employee entrance from the parking lot; it's a one-man gate house located on the south-west corner of the compound. The main gates (for trucks and such) are in the middle of the south fence.

Inside the compound, there are a couple of buildings. Closest to the north, there is a good sized administration building. Four stories at a glance. East of that, and due north of the main gates is a large building with garage doors big enough to accommodate trailer trucks and buses. This building fills almost a quarter of the compound, stretching to the north and east fences. Right next to the warehouse/garage directly to the south of it, is a short wide building with many windows.

On the far side of the main gate, there is a utility building. The security checkpoint for the main gates is attached to this building, as well as a normal sized garage. There is a second floor on that building as well... it's somewhat reminiscent of a Fire Hall, actually.

The bad news is, most of the compound around the south-west corner is empty tarmac. There are two small piles of palettes -one is empty, the other stacked with plastic-wrapped crates. The closest cover to stash the unconscious guard would probably be right behind the guard house, on the outside of the fence.

Jareth
From your perch atop the tallest building, you have a decent vantage of what Sarah is doing. Obviously, the fence is frustrating her, and she stops what she's doing to watch the activity at the gate house. Turning your head, you see the woman in plain clothes lowering an unconscious guard to the ground.

More movement catches your eyes. Hopping over to the edge of the building you are on, you watch as a tall, bald man exits the side of the building you are perched on and makes his way across to a shorter, but larger building next to you. The man is accompanied by a woman with long black hair and another man in a suit. Both attendants scurry like ants to keep up with the tall bald one.

Glancing back towards Sarah, you see her give up digging at the fence, and take off jogging along the fence towards where the guard was just incapacitated.
By now it's obvious you're at the same place as Chun Li, but please try to keep your player knowledge separate. Sarah's actions make it clear she considers the people in the compound enemies (or she has become some sort of thief). While you have no idea who Chun Li is, it's not unreasonable to assume that she is directly or indirectly Sarah's ally in this venture.

Chun-Li
Character Sheet - HP: 1

Dumping the guard off behind the guard post, not the best position, but would do for now, Chun-Li heads towards the gate. Springing with every step, she leaps high into the air, kicks off the wall to increase her height and grabs the top. She sits atop the fence for only a second, taking a brief look at her surroundings and then drops to the ground below.

While on the fence, she spotted a building with large garage doors. Big enough to fit that truck, she thought. Flitting between pallets and hiding in the shadows, she made her way there, slower than she would have liked, but carefully nonetheless.

Stealth Check: 1d20+3=13

Oddly enough, I didn't give her Stealth. Go figure.

Lara Croft
Character Sheet
Condition: Normal
HP: 1

Lara doesn't quite know what to say. Not to suggest that she is at a loss for words, but that nothing that springs to mind is inspiring. Now, given that the guy with the odd suit was probably an actual superhero with actual powers and she was pretty much a crack shot and a had a nose for trouble it was likely that he could do more than most of the group combined.

If she wasn't convinced to go before, she was now.

"Well then, time is wasting - in more ways than one it would seem. She picks up her backpack and smiles encouragingly at Ralph. "Perhaps we could meet up at the town?"

She is holding one of the folders, the original map displayed. She's obviously trying to determine the best rendezvous point.

Buckaroo Banzai

Buckaroo accepts the keys from the FBI agent. He considered the benefits of both lines of investigation before making his decision.

"An excellent idea! If you are better qualified to investigate the missing children, then I will investigate the fires. Who's with me? Driving a Lincoln Town car is not the same as a jet car but it will serve to get us to our destination."

Connor MacLeod
HP: 1 Condition: Normal

Outside two cars were waiting for them. Connor went over to where Lady Lara was talking to Ralph, admiring her svelte figure as he did so. She had looks, talent and wealth. He could see how most men would find her very attractive, almost irresistibly so.

”Meeting at the town seems sensible. How about at a diner or something? We can sit down, get the feel of the place, and not look too obvious. Also we might be able to pick up on the local gossip.“

Finding the place he was looking for on one of the maps, Connor pointed it out to Lara and Ralph, getting into the car as he did so.

”I seem to remember there’s a quiet family-style place called Lousia’s Place that serves nice coffee and good food, if I remember rightly. How about there?

So Mr, ah, Blunt, you're happy enough to drive, are you?”

OOC: I’m imaging that Connor might have passed through San Luis once upon a time - only so we can have a place to meet… He won’t have any local knowledge other than that.

Jareth
COndition:

The owl watched Sarah move towards the gate, while the second woman makes her way over the fence.

Pity...I thought you more clever than that, Sarah.

Curiosity was getting the best of the mysterious owl. Why were these women here? What were the mortals inside this compound working on?

The owl silently took to the air again, diving towards the short building that the bald man and his attendants went into and towards the roof. Upon landing on the roof, the Owl changed. His shadow grew, transforming into the shadow of a tall humanoid with large hair.

Where the owl landed there now stood a handsome blonde man dressed in a flowing black cape with a large collar. His clothing was not like that of a modern man of 2001, and he looked more like he stepped out of a fairy tale. Taking in the area on the rooftop quickly, the man walked to the edge of the roof, watching as the second woman made it through the now unguarded gate.

"Not as clever as I thought.....but still just as interesting."

Jareth is going to take in a quick perception check on the roof to spot an air duct that he, his owl form or one of his goblins could fit inside.

Well, that worked out nicely.
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothes. But the half-wit remains a half-wit and the emperor remains an emperor.

Buckeroo Banzai
Re: Your earlier Investigate roll: After reviewing the data, and comparing missing persons with arson, you are confident that there is no causal relationship between the two. It's almost like what Sugar Ray Leonard said; it's almost like two unrelated crime sprees are hitting the same city... and yet, the size of the town makes you confident they must be related in some way.

Connor MacLeod
Buckeroo has one set of keys... and the rotund, bearded man has the other. By what resource or authority are you inviting Ralph to drive?
...just askin'.

Chun Li
Keeping low, you trot across to the closer set of palettes. You stop, look, and listen for a second. No outcry is forthcoming, so you continue your way across to the next stack of palettes, and hopefully on to the warehouse thereafter.
Can I get three more stealth rolls?
Chun Li seems to be unobserved.

Jareth
Watching Sarah's progress, you estimate it will take her about another half-minute to clear the gates. She is jogging at a decent clip, but conserving her energy by not sprinting. Glancing at the other woman already in the compound, you judge that her interest is also in the warehouse. Whatever could be so interesting?

Stepping over the edge of the building, you stand on the side of it and survey the wall. There do not appear to be any ungrated air ducts on the building, but above the door the trio went through there is a window. If it were fully opened one of your goblins might be able to squeeze through, and you most likely could in your guise as an owl.

Silent Bob
HP 1

Bob turns to Connor and nods his head and holds up the keys. Though he didn't show it he was actually wondering if he still remembered how to drive a car. It had been a long time, almost another life it seemed. Well with any luck it wouldn't end up like the last time Jay had driven. Please don't let it be stick, he thought to himself.
