Weird Austin [3e] - ideas/input

Considering dipping back into the GM pool and I'm noodling on a couple ideas - want to know which (if either) people would be interested in.

Weird Austin (influenced heavily by The Dresden Files, PL 7 or 8 )

The Live Music Capital of the World is famous for many things: 6th Street, Threadgill's, the Congress Street Bridge (and its bat colony), Eeyores Birthday Party, the Driskill Hotel, Barton Springs Pool and, of course, the Texas Capitol Building. But under the surface exists another world, one of supernatural menace that preys upon humanity.

"Keep Austin Weird"...? Yeah, like that's gonna be a problem...

EDIT: ok, pregen's seems to be a turn-off so I'll settle on Weird Austin

The Weird Austin is more appealing to me. I prefer original characters, and Austin is familiar to me.

Aside from the PL, you might want to specify the nature and scope of allowable powers. For instance, would Cora fit with your concept? (Ignore 2e stats and PL--just concept and scope of powers).

Right now W.A. is a vague idea, but generally plot-busting powers like postcognition or mind-reading would requires some heavy limits (vague images, prolonged physical contact, etc.). Also more than 2 or 3 ranks of movement powers would be discouraged.

I've submitted to a few different style games. I'd love to play something like Young Justice, but I'm not into premade characters either. I'd cast 1.5 votes for a Young Justice inspired or reimagined game though, or anything superhero.

I'm adding another vote for weird Austin. I already have a character idea for a Musician who is bonded with a large dog of some kind. I was thinking of building the dog as a device though instead of a minion or side kick. He would draw all of his abilities from the animal. Enhanced senses, increased endurance etc. There are still some character things I need to work out in my head though.

Ok - I'll go with Weird Austin. At this point I'm seeking setting inputs; will recruit once I have a firmer idea of where I want to take it.

As previously stated, this game will be heavily influenced by The Dresden Files: many of the same institutions and entities exist (the White Council, the Red, White and Black Vampire Courts, and the Fairie Courts of Winter and Summer). One major change: the war between the Red Court and the White Council did not occur. In a nutshell, magic is real but the general population is unaware of it.
