Eldr Geisa [2e] (Recruitment)

Postby XeroKhan » Wed Oct 10, 2012 7:12 pm

I have taken a break from being a GM and I have decided to post this campaign interest. I am working out the finer details, but this is what I have so far:

Ragnarok, the Twilight of the Gods, came to an end. As the smoke settled, Only a few Norse gods survived. Vidar, a son of Odin, is a fantastic swordsman despite his perminantly crippled left leg and an inheritant of Odin's unbound wisdom. Vali is another son of Odin who could wield a bow better than any other god. Modi and Magni, both the sons of Thor, were two who received Thor's strength. Hoenir is the brother of Odin and the last surviving member of the Vana, the fertile gods (as for farming.) As these survivors gathered, they saw Odin's twin sons Baldr [bald-er] and Hodur return from the realm of Helheimr [hel-him], the realm of the dead. The twins had an escort, a mysteriously cloaked figure. The survivors welcomed this man into their ranks as a survivor of Ragnarok. As the eight returned to Asgard, the realm of the gods, they saw their homes in ruins save one, the golden hall Gimli that shone like the sun. Upon entering Gimli, the survivors were surprised to see some Valkyries and Einherjar [ein-her-yar: the glorious dead] were relaxing after the victory. It was here that the gods began their rule over the Nine Realms. It was also at that very time that the only two surviving mortals, Lif and Lifthrasir, left their sanctuary deep inside the World Tree, Yggdrasil [Ig-dra-sil]. The man and woman began to repopulate the barren realm of Midgard.

It has been 1000 years since, and man began to prosper even further. Man has been able to create steam-powered technology with the help of their runic magic. With this, man created two factions to govern over them: the Faction of Cen and the Faction of Is. The Faction of Cen was to regulate the steam tech that was produced while the Faction of Is governed over the magic users. However, these two factions began to fight with each other for some unknown reason. This conflict became known as the Faction War. During this war, a mysterious cult that worships Loki, the disceased Norse trickster, that took over as the government over mankind. Despite mankind's pleas, the gods are not listening for some reason. What is going on with the gods? What caused this Faction War? Where did this Cult of Loki come from?

Essentially, this is a 2e campaign with PL 8 caps. The world is a Steam punk under Norse Mythology, so steam powered tech and magic are allowed. NO POWERS except for the steam punk tech, magic, support powers* like Super Senses or Immunity, and devices. Also, there are three races: Man, Elf, and Dwarf. Dwarf characters will IMMEDIATELY DIE when exposed to sunlight; however, they recieve a device that lets them turn invisible FREE OF PP CHARGE and can only work for Dwarves. The device, when activated, also protects them from sunlight.

As for magic, it MUST be based off of the chart below:

Image

So, for example, with the Is Rune, you may have Cold Control as a Power feat, and so on.

any questions, please DO NOT HESITATE to post.

More will be added soon due to the inconvenience of my laptop being stupid.

*=THERE MUST BE A REASONABLE CAUSE FOR THE SUPPORT POWERS.

Have to wonder, are you saying you will be GM, or are you simply requesting a game like this? Also, how would an elf techno Mage fare. Probably using a telekinetic array based around the God rune. I have running some numbers with physics, and low level telekinetic can get seriously fun if given things to lift, drop, or throw...

Yes, I will be GMing this game, Kenma. Show me your build for the elven techno mage and I can judge from there. Also, don't forget to put your telekenesis as a power feat under magic.

This game looks pretty intereasting. I was thinking of making a human warrior that use a mystic staff that only he can use (I'll have bought the restricted power feat twice in game terms). For powers he'll have a short range teleport, blindsight, some healing, and strikes and blasts, all from the staff. Does this sort of character idea sound okay?

Also even though I'm not playing as one I'm curious about the dwarves. Is their device easy or hard to lose and do they count as "exposed to sunlight" if there in an area that is sunny, but they are invisible at the time?

It would be naturally hard to lose device. It also protects you from sunlight when in use. I'll tack that on the info post.

As for the staff, make sure the powers it can use are based on the Nordic Runes that I posted earlier. Other than that, go for it.

This should be interesting. I thinking of building him to be a master of magic, and by extension, physics.
I fact, I have found by the harts that telekineses can move 6 tons of material, say earth, and can accelerate it at about .6 meters per second squared, producing a driving force of over 2000 newtons, a force that can easily break through concrete! Scale the equations down, and through something about 2000 kg, like an average sized car, and it would only need to be accelerated at 1 m/s2 and produce a similar force! And this is simply by moving the object forward, then using momentum to continue that acceleration. Thus, by simply using telekinesis 8, you can blast through concrete just by using telekineses on a car!

Also, the FULL intro is posted for viewing...

I'll have the character build up in a bit. As for the rune hmm... Would the nied (necessity/trouble) be broad enough to cover what I want to do with the staff?

I'd imagine Bad Luck Control on your enemies. Anything else?

What about rad for the jouney part and maybe cweorp (firestick) for some of the explosion and dazzle alternate powers I have. Can you use more than one rune for the same device? If I can't though I can probably split up the teleportation and attack powers into two seperate devices.

Okay, i have another question. I wish to play an elven character, not just for the fact that the race is rare which just adds to the RP factor, but that the elves tend to be iconic masters of magic on the side of good. However, you say that the powers can't be anything but devices or magic related or anything else. Thus, I wish to ask if that would also prevent me from giving him powers like Super-Vision(dark vision) or Enhanced Auditory senses or perhaps longevity like Immunity to Aging? Since these things would fall under the powers cataegory, but wouldn't be covered by a rune, since they would be innate abilities of the elf by way of its race.

Looks alright at first glance, Speed.

Kenma, I think that either I mis-typed or you misunderstood. Magic is allowed and it can be used in a device.

As for powers, I will fix that. I think the support powers would be allowed, like super senses and immunity. HOWEVER, there must be a reasonable cause. I will fix that.
