Deadlands IC Ch 1 The first step of the long trail
Re: Deadlands IC Ch 1 The first step of the long trail
Dog
HP - 2
Condition - mystified
Dog looks curiously between the two females. The words, mostly, are ones that he knows, but he is completely mystified by most of the conversation.
Giving up on the conversation, he wanders around a bit more, sniffing curiously. At several points he stops and lifts his leg, letting predators know that he was in the area and that they should beware. Finally, apparently satisfied, he sits next to the buffalo woman and chuffs at her happily, his tail thumping the ground.

Re: Deadlands IC Ch 1 The first step of the long trail
Wanekia
Wanekia holds out a hand quickly, "No, wait! If the manitou are here, entering their realm is too dangerous..."
She kept silent on the fact that actually entering the hunting ground was magic far beyond her own.
Her eyes turned to the spirit before them, "It wishes to speak to us, I think." Her gaze then turned downward towards Dog, "Can you see them as well?"
Bladewind wrote:"It occurs to me," she says, the stoic wanderer persona settling back into practised place, "That the Umbra might offer a better vantage point for any Wyrm taint that we might have missed."
Erica draws her Klaive and gazes at it's reflective surface for a moment as she prepares to step into the spirit world. The runes adorning the hilt are mostly obscured by her grip.

Dog
HP - 2
Condition - Still a little mystified
Dog tilts his head curiously at the buffalo woman's words.
<Dog does not see anything that isn't there, Dog only sees what is there for Dog to see.>
He whines slightly, apparently uncertain as to what she is talking about.

Re: Deadlands IC Ch 1 The first step of the long trail
Dog you cannot see the spirit but there's definitely a different smell now coming from well, not the body part, but it's general vicinity.
The spirit speaks. "Help us, the devourer and the sorcerer both want us. There is no peace for those of us condemned." It's words seem to come from far away, some clear, some merely whispers. "Free those of us still left."
Those of you unable to comprehend spirits here nothing. The silence amongst your group seems to drag on. Wanekia, you notice the spirit seems to come in and out of focus, as if being here is an incredible effort. The outlines of the spirit, when you can see it, are frayed like nothing you've seen before in a spirit.

Honesty
Honesty takes the opportunity of being completely ignored (how rude!) to slip off into the shadows and stays so, trying to even fade from memory.

Honesty and Wanekia
As you focus more on the spirit world, the world around you seems to flicker and fade a little bit. You can clearly tell there are more spirits around then just the one appearing in this world. The graveyard is much darker in this world and looks very poorly kept. Parts of it look as though it's had fire set to it. Headstones are crumbling. That being said the spirits in the hunting ground look fine and no manitous are around.
Honesty
There is no sound in the umbra. It's deathly quite. While the spirits seem to be fine, the landscape reeks of decay.

Re: Deadlands IC Ch 1 The first step of the long trail
CASSANDRA HP 2, Condition concerned.
"Who dun did this? What devourer? What sorcerer? Do they have a name? Kin ye tell us wheah they be holed up?" Cassandra asked the spirit, her voice echoing oddly in the still, queer air of the cemetary, as if she's speaking from the depths of an old well. "Ah kin seek justice fer ye, but if'n ye kin give us a direction it'd be much appreciated."
If'n they look at her in the spirit realm, she looks solidly real, more real than any mundane critter should be. Scrolling around her wrists and up to her elbow are tiny glyphs in an unknown script, etched in silver and gold light.

Dog
HP - 1
Condition - searching for something
The dog stands suddenly, his head raised as he nose samples the air. There is a new scent.
He stalks forward, moving slowly, following the scent to it's source. He pauses when he gets to the well, his great head swinging from side to side as he takes in the scent, marking it in his mind.

Stalks-from-Shadow/ Erica Clayton
HP 2
Cond: Normal
Partly due to Wanekia`s warning, partly due to the spirit`s words, Erica chooses not to step into the Umbra. The darkness of the area is likely reflected there, and she has no desire to fight Wyrm-Spirits at the moment - too many questions needed answering before she would bring the fight to the Wyrm. She knew of many of her bretheren that would not appreciate her thinking, but she had not survived as long as this by fighting every beastie at every turn.
"Thank you for the concern, Wanekia." She says warmly, "Although I can handle myself against Wyrm Spirits - Manitou as you call them - there is no need for confrontation now, indeed if anything remains here at all."
Erica surveys the scene again. She pauses the longest when she gazes at the other in the makeshift "pack."
"One of the Wyrm`s greatest assets is fear. It would help if we knew each other's abilities. I am Garou."
She pauses, waiting for reaction and response.

"The devourer, he feasts on our bound souls in return for offering his services to the sorcerer, the one we had quarrel with who bound our souls to our bodies. We are either his servants or fodder for the beast. It is too late for some but not too late for all."

A rather dashing canine lands like a feather upon Erica's shoulder, holding there like a vulture upon its perch... and apparently completely weightless.
"You're a garoooooou!?" the coyote grins widely, a twinkle of mischief in its eyes, "What does that mean?"

The spirit grows more solid for a brief moment as she looks at the coyote then a look of calm settles on her features.. I see beyond the veils. You all have gifts, help who you can while it's not too late She then dissolves into nothingness. There's no indication of her in either of the realms.

Cassandra HP 2, condition normal.
The girl jumps off her horse and bows her head, whispering a prayer for the spirits still trapped and hurting. "Ah'll stop this Ah will. No critter deserves t'be ripped from thar final rest by some greedy arsehole lustin fer power he has no raht to hold."
She looked at the two shifters. "Ah don't rightly care if'n either of ye be fuzzy or not, ye ain't evil or workin with the Wyrm, that's enough fer me." she waved her hands back towards the graveyard. "Ah be thinkin we need to head back to town. Somethin is tellin me that the longer we delay, the more trouble tha town is gonna be in. "
She looked sober. "Ye might want to keep to human form though whilest we're in town, most folks aren't as understandin as Ah am. They maht get upset if'n they see you with fur." she said, mainly directin her comment to Honesty.

Dog
HP - 1
Condition - stating the obvious
The dog sighs loudly.
<Yes. She-wolf is she-wolf and coyote is coyote. Dog could have told you that.>
Having expressed his exasperation with how long it takes peoples to notice simple things like that, he turns back towards town.
"Dog goes back to people-place now. Will find bad-things and bite them!
With a fearsome growl, he sets off towards the people-place, running cross country instead of bothering to follow the road.

Honesty Jones
Honesty-coyote watches the brave and heroic dog as he runs off.. by himself.
"That boy'll get himself into trouble if he's not more careful." He looks around for a minute. "Where did my jerky get off to?"
