Speaking quietly into his communicator, Xerxes relayed on the obstacles as he encountered them, and then doubled back to make sure Woman-in-Black, Hex-Mistress, and Warp successfully navigated them.
Now if only I can make sure that we were going the right way... always assume that the easy way is always mined, but then again, it's best to assume that every path is mined.

He stopped and cocked his head of to one side to see if he could tell if they were getting any closer.

The Woman In Black
HP: 0
Condition: Slowly recessing

The mental static was beginning to grind at Chel's brain. She could hardly focus on the outside world anymore. Vacantly following anything that moved and looked like her partners, she retreated into her mind. There was a comforting static in here. The type that you hear when an old TV broke. It was barely audible. Audible is a bad word for it. That's how her mind perceived it. Anyone who touched her mind perceived a low hum of static also. When American Patriot delivered her a message it was there. When she shot Warp the same mental sending, it sounded like she was talking through a light bit of it. Trapwire in the vents, Warp. We need to be careful. Can't reach Red Ranger or Hex Mistress with my head, so we gotta get a message out to them without alerting anyone else.

Able Team (Hex Mistress, Red Ranger, Warp & Woman-in-Black)

As Woman-in-Black and Warp looked up, they saw Red Ranger and Hex Mistress looking at them. Red Ranger had found the way through the halls to get down behind the large platform where the albino man was speaking, stoking the fires of hate and desires for vengence. He wa able to see where the children were in a shallow 'pit' backed into a corner so that the crowd of insighted men and women could rush forward and rip them apart with the makeshift weapons they were carrying.

Ranger also saw that the albino's henchmen were all armed with modern military hardware, and were position in areas around him, operating with military precision as they oversaw and protected him. Ranger also noticed that the prescense of another albino. A woman whom was standing with three armed henchmen, smiling broadly at the way the albino man had turned all of those gathered into a rampaging mob... held only in check by his words.

Bravo Team (American Patriot, Thunderer & Scarlet Crow)

American Patriot looked over at Thunderer and grinned, "Well, we've found the tripwires..." he said. "The moment that Woman-in-Black gives us a heads up to trip them... the party can get started. When this is over, the one who knock-outs out the least has to buy the beer."

No one needed a telepathic link to know what Warp was thinking the moment they arrived behind the stage and saw the kidnapped kids. He barely held himself back, looking to Black for the signal from Patriot. Still, he was jumpy and swore to himself he'd 'port in there and get those kids out at the first sign of danger, plan or no plan. Then he'd haul a$$ back here an lay a righteous smackdown on Mister and Missus Creeper.

Xerxes slid back around the corner and spoke quietly into his communicator.
"This is no Occupy Wall Street movement. It looks like it's hired mercenaries with guns trained just above head level of the crowds. I wouldn't be surprised if most of them feel they're in dire threat of their life. I might — and I emphasize might — be able to take down all of the thugs in rapid order, but if it goes wrong... I'm also a bit worried that an alarm going off will just start the violence early. They don't look like they're preparing for us at least, so either we're still undetected or they're one step further than us on the shell game."

He snuck another quite glance before returning back around the corner.
"Woman in Black, is there any chance of us trying some kind of blanket mind mojo to shut everyone down at once? That might be our safest opening move, disabling as many of the combatants while we can, while at worst leaving the hostages asleep on their feet. Not like they're going to have much chance to fight back anyhow. Any way about it, we probably need to make our move soon, because either the Hitler knockoff up there gives his order to fire or one of those guards is going to go Kent State and get an itchy trigger finger. Either way, it's volatile."

OOC: If the armed guards are within 5 feet of each other, Xerxes could make use of a Hero Point to gain a second level of Takedown Attack and then channel his speed to string them all along. But that requires them to be within 5 feet. Alternately, he could try to extra-effort an area attack using either Selective or the kind where you choose consecutive 5x5x5 cubes, but he'll be striking at lesser force if he does that.

And he may be being too charitable towards the mob, but that's his report of it at least.

American Patriot

"Good... the moment Bravo team is in a secure position near the hostages that you can't be detected or seen," he stated. "You are to let us know so we can start making noise and draw them to us... The moment you're ready give us the go sign and we'll start raising hell. On a side note... have you seen any sign of their communications jammers?"

OOC: The Mercs are spread out... about ten to twenty feet apart. They're each armed with
Iranian Defense Industires Organization Khaybar KH202 5.56mm assault rifle (picture below). They are wearing reinforced desert camo combat pants, a dark combat vest over a dark brown combat shirt, black facemask & watch cap, with white leggings & gloves. tehy've also got night vision goggles propped up on the tops of their heads. For the most part they are watching outward for anyone who could harm the two albinos.

So far you've not seen what's jamming the communications.

Thunderer

Hank winced slightly at the psychic feedback that was underlying, almost unnoticably, the Woman's switchboarding. There was a thought, barely a whisper of, You all right, kid?

The big man waited, watching the scene unfold, his fists clenched in chained-in rage.

Xerxes frowned as he ran his memories of the room through his head once more. Someone out there is dabbling... I'd swear that I saw some of those symbols one of the nights when I was reviewing the incident where the Freedom League defeated Malak. Yes! Those are... unbinding runes? Probably not powered, but all it would take is a jolt of energy.
He tapped his communicator on. "Hex-Mistress, when we get to the room, we're going to need you to check for mystic issues... I don't think anyone in the room planned on a mystic booby trap, but if I'm not wrong, the barriers between our world and another may be weak and prone to tearing." He focused and shifted his uniform back to the coveralls and face-obscuring dipped baseball hat.
"Patriot wants us in position and hidden when he makes his move. I'm going to try to blend in with the crowd." He then suited actions to words and slipped through the door, moving quietly but not obviously stealthy, trying to look like a latercomer trying to avoid anyone noticing he was sneaking in late.

OOC: Knowledge (Arcane Lore): (1d20+1=19) As per the DC posted before, that should get him basic knowledge that some of the runes are legit, plus probably a basic grounding on what they mean.
Taking 10 on his Disguise and Stealth for totals of 14 (including -5 for non-specific "face in the crowd" disguise) and 13 respectively.

Red Ranger was able to mingle with the crowd that was so focused on the words that the albino man was using to paint a horrid picture of righteous vengence of the underclasses on the perceived theft of all that they deserved by the mysterious One Percent. It was unnerving how easy it was for demogauges to seperate and divide people by percieved differences... be it racial, class or ideologial differences.

It reminded him of something that American Patriot had said when they were in the world where Hitler's Third Reich had won the Second World War. That to many people took the path of least reistance in their daily lives, and that at some level almost everyone felt as if someone was pushing them down... and that they were blind to see that it was their own choices and actions doing it. And not some grand conspiracy. That this feeling allowed them to give in to their most basic deires and fears. That people focus more on differences than on what makes them all the same. That fear of those that are different was easy to play upon.

And here it was on public display.

It was in a word Hate, pure and simple... nothing more and nothing less. be it a hate for someone who was different or someone who had something you didn't. Be it having a new pair of $300 sneakers, an iPad or iPhone... or some other mere posession that you feel that you deserved just because you want it.

Woman-in-Black, Warp and Hex Mistress were able to get into the lockers that were on either side of the hallways. they were cramped, but would be more than adaquate for concealing them from all but the most strenous search that would require each being opened and searched. The secondary benefit was that the lockers took the edge off the noise of the hate rally going on in the old gymnasium that had been built to provide the maximum amplification of all the voices on the stage.

"We shall find them no matter where tehy hide!" the new Counquer Worm yelled. "Even if they hide behind their ivory walls that are protected by the corrupt oliarch police forces! It does not matter... today will be the start of our glorious revolution! We shall show all the others how to act! How the Ninty-nine Precent should act!"

"Today we shall be the modern day shot heard around the world!"

Red Ranger had moved closer to the children, whose terror was so strong that he couldn't help but see, hear and feel it. A small child was cowering in horror in the arms of a teenaged young woman who was trying her best to calm her fellow prisoners. The look on the girl's face was one of steadfast deterination to keep all the younger children safe for as long as she could. Her eyes locked with Red Ranger's. Her look of defiance and strength strock him, for he did not see fear in her eyes. But the look of a lioness ready to protect its cubs.

"Today the blood of these children shall be just the first to be shed... all of them," he shouted. "From the new born to the ancient crone.... all thsoe who have more than we, shall die before our strength!"

The young girl looked up at the albino as she shielded the younger children with her body. Keeping herself between them and the crowd whom were more than ready to rush in and rip the all apart with their bare hands. But the crowd wouldn't need to use their barehands... for the Conqueror Worm's armed lackeys started to pass out all kinds of melee weapons, that were the symbols of the laborer, worker and farmer at first... for every three being given melee weapons, the rest were being given various types of small arms.

Everything from pistols, submachineguns and assault rifles. Nothing as modern as the weapons being carried by the mercenaries. But deadly none the less.

They were also being given armbands and bandanas to cover their faces so that they could recognize each other.

It was obvious that the Conqueror Worm was waiting to allow the crowd to rip the children apart until they were all armed. and it was looking that would happen any second...

Warp had waited patiently for what felt like forever until he couldn't take it any longer. "Screw the plan, I'm going in there!" He was gone in an instant before reappearing in the middle of the kids.

"I'll be coming for you next you @$#%+." He scowled at the albinos standing on the stage before mentally tagging his charges and teleporting them to first safe place he could think of: into the middle of the command center of Avengers mansion.

"Don't worry kids, the nice old lady will take care of you until we can contact your parents, I gotta go stomp some badguys." Warp reappeared at the school again, sending out a message to the Woman in Black. "Hostages clear."

Thunderer

"Looks like it's time to make some noise!"

With a bull-like bellow, Hank charged forward through the traps. To add to the impending doom of his ruckus, he slammed his fists into walls and doors as he passed, more for noise than any real damaging effect, but with strength such as his, there were still going to be holes and cracks.

Able Team

The Conqueror Worm screamed as Warp teleported the children to safety. His orders to the enraged crowd barely directed them to storm out of the gym and head towards where American Patriot and Thunderer where making themselves known.

As the enraged mob rushed forward, the members of Able team hiding in the lockers were able to see the wide and diverse nature of the crowd and the weapons they had been equiped with. They could overhear the Conqueror Worm giving orders to his security detail and his apprarent sibling.

Conqueror Worm and Ligera stood together as their mercenary troops secured the gym as they started to move their charges to safety.

Bravo Team

"Then let's rock and roll...." American Patriot said as he followed Thunderer, activating his comlink. "Ranger, Hex Mistress and Woman in Black.... once they have gotten past you. Do what you can to try and capture the albinos... or keep track of them if you aren't able to catch them!"

Both men saw the crowd surging forward towards them. Their screams and catcalls as they grew closer and closer. The ehpetaths of Facist and Tool that was being hurled at the two men was quickly drowned out when the sounds of gunfire was being reflected throughout the halls.

A stray bullets richoced off the lockers and bouced around the halls, several of the crowd were brought down by their own whom were firing wildly without any kind of discipline. but the death was nothing more than something to enflame them further into their bloodlust.

When they distributed weapons, Xerxes grabbed a tire iron, more out denying weapons to the enemy than anything else, and then tried to maneuver his way toward the front of the group as they began to surge forward. As he stepped forward, Xerxes opened his mouth to say that it was time to spring the plan, but apparently the open comm line was sufficient on its own as Warp jumped in and he heard loud crashing from where he presumed the entrance was. He immediately began trying to move with the crowd toward the crowd as they moved for the exit. As the first gunshots fired, he was struck with inspiration.
"Guys, they're firing on us" he shouted, and surged back to whack one of the mercenaries with the tire iron, letting his enhanced speed take him just slightly more than human as he vaulted above the heads of the crowd to land in a two-handed blow like the hammer of God.
"He's trying to get rid of witnesses now that we're not doing his dirty work!"

OOC: Attack Roll (PA 5, AoA 4), Bluff: (1d20+10-5+4=15, 1d20+1=16) That's assuming that I can't just Take 10 for a minion strike. He's at -4 to his defense (+6 bonus), but has Elusive target, so it's -8 to hit him with ranged weapons unless the people shooting have Precise Shot. If that hits and takes the target down, he'll strike another mercenary within range if available. Feel free to roll on that one.

Able Team (Hex Mistress, Red Ranger, Warp & Woman-in-Black)

When the crowd pushed forward in an extremely fast rush, Red Rangers words and actions triggered something total strange that he never in a million years could have predicted. The crowd turned in on itself… each attacking those next to them out of just the perceived possibility that their companion would dare to deviate from the goals, or ideals of their modern day messiah whose words had given them all back their self-respect; The ones who had given them the identities of those whom have used, abused and thrown them away. Their desire to rush out of the sewers into those areas of Freedom City where the Rich lived…. A desire to rip them out of the castles that had been built on the stolen labour of the working me & women of the world.

Their rage and hate was so strong that they wanted to kill every man, woman and child… no matter their age, or standing. Even those rich kids whom lower themselves to ‘help the needy to assuage away their guilt for what they had stolen from the people.

Thankful the mob had moved well past where Hex Mistress, Woman-in-Black where still hiding in the lockers when Warp teleported back into their location. Helping the Women get out of the lockers and get into a position to see Red ranger taking down one of the Mercs.

"Mister Warp," Mrs. Cadbury's voice was heard over the special comlink in his ear. "The children are suffering from shock… but our friend at the clinic is on his way here to check them out. Now we need a photo or audio-video recording of this new Conqueror Worm…"

"And Mister Warp," Mrs. Cadbury said as her voice softened. "You did really good work. We just need you to keep it up…"

Red Ranger had moved quickly to take out the professional mercenary that was close by thanks to his attention being focused more on the safety of his employer. In fact Red Ranger was stunned with how easy it had been for him to take down the apparent profession mercenary with such a quick attack. His compatriots noticed what Red Ranger had done and quickly opened up with suppression fire to force the man that they did not recognize.

The mercs moved with an eerie smoothness that showed that they had been training and working together for quite some time. If Red Ranger was to guess, it showed some kind of advanced training as not just combat operations, but protective detail operations as well. And Red Ranger noticed that the eyes of the merc he had incapacitated was still open, and had an almost pained look.

He muttered something in Farsi as he pulled some kind of quick release rig on his armored vest that was accompanied by a high pitched whine.

Bravo Team (American Patriot & Thunderer)

American Patriot and Thunderer turned to look at each other as the mob that was running straight for them, just stopped and started to rip each other apart. To call the uncontrolled bloodthirsty violence chaos a highly violent brutal bloodbath just wouldn’t convey the sheer amount of chaos that was being unleashed…. that the tight confines of the hall was making the fight close in and very dirty.

Those with guns were firing off wildly… with no care where their bullets would come to rest nor whom would be in the way of that bullets path. One such bullet slammed into the wall right where Thunderer’s head had just ben located when he turned to exchange looks of dismay…

"Do we break this up," American Patriot asked his teammate. "…or should we just make sure no civilians do not get hurt, or do we join Able team in capturing the maniacs’ who created this whole mess? "

The words coming through the commlink brought a smile to Warp's face, then he grew uncharacteristically serious. "You want a mugshot? You can ID him when AEGIS hauls him in after I'm done with him."

He ported back to the stage, squaring off against the albino demagogue. "Hey, toldya I'd be back." Warp attacked in a flurry of fists, elbows and feet seeming to come in from every direction, all aimed at the new villain claiming the name of Conqueror Worm.

Rapid Attack (1d20+11=28), DC 24 Toughness +1 for every 2 points he beats the Defense by.
