Gramamov's designs seemed to be of mixed success. Building the ion accelerator is not the problem. The problem was powering it. He could hook it into the ship's reactors and get a decent anti-fighter weapon. It was just barely below the ship's broadcast power load, but handing it to a human and having them walk around with it and its power source too.

The others seem to have potential, but the scientist is unsure until it is tested. As for the drones, well, he would see the next time they needed them. The parts he'd used had been left over spares from the shuttle bay. He'd been surprised when the ship's stores had approved the transfer of materials.

He got the droid prototype designed and built from spare parts. He got the design programmed into one shuttle and one fighter, as well as the ship's zeebeedeebees. (construction bots- nobody is sure where the name comes from, but it's standard in the Union- and oddly enough the Empire as well.)

But the idea was to field test it with the Tiger team, i.e. having the compact droid with him (its small sized so easy to carry around.)

Ah, I was under the impression it was to use the ship's shuttles and fighters to make them. Sorry about that.

Converting one of the zeebeedeebees would work as well. They are normally about the size of a backpack. Reprogramming them and mounting the weapons and shields would be no problem.

Just for clarification, Spectrum, Carstairs is a gunnery sergeant who has been genetically enhanced. Not a commissioned officer so, technically, you are the ranking military person on the team.

I was looking for there to be a degree of parity between the two 9and she's really more of a specialist), but not looking to buck your leadership. Does it make sense for me to adjust the rank and/or extra clearances?

I missed an opportunity to work in a background introduction. Garfield is the equivalent of a Coast Guard member, more involved in search and rescue (and patrolling) than normal combat ops. As far as power set goes, I was thinking of a Khan Noonien Singh- style homo superior, in order to compete (palely) against the Impy transhumans.

Before I get too much further, please forgive me for making some odd references. I've read through the origin novel and really enjoyed it and plan on bringing that story out here when appropriate.

So... what is the planet like? Anything interesting?

New Caledonia is a former Union Colony that was captured by the Imperials in the last war and given up to help form the Confederation of Non-Aligned Worlds. It has some very good shipyards that have been upgraded with salvage from the ones the Empire burned out in the Corridor Nebula. It has a decent industrial base having to import few items from off planet.

The starport is just outside the capital city of Wishaw. The city itself has a population of nearly 22 million Confederation, Union, and Imperial citizens trying to learn to live in peace. Both the Union and the Empire maintain repair facilities as well as embassies.

The climate is on the cooler side of Earthlike, with the poles being completely frozen, and the equator having daytime highs around 24 degrees Celcius. The seas are cold and VERY productive.

Points of Interest: Capital City has a rich cultural center. There is also a huge market where goods from all over the Union and the Empire can be purchased. There are several museums. As Garfield indicated there is a gladiatorial type games (non-lethal) and that seems to be something that is unique to this planet.

There is also a burgeoning sports program in the area and an ancient sport from Earth known as American Football that has enjoyed an intense revival there.
