As Kris leaves the area hes so lost in thought that he doesnt notice the small black circle left behind. The black Circle begins to slowly expand as small runes and black fire begins to flicker around its edge. Mr. Saito looks up from his tending to one of the Cherry Blossom tree with a look of concern.

But before it can expand a cloaked and hooded figure appears next to it. Long platinum blond hair flows out from under the hood as the cloak flairs out like a pair of wings. The figure slams a long staff down into the center of the circle before chanting in an ancient language that causes the air around the circle to tingle like a series of windchimes before the flames are extinguished and the circle glows bright white and then vanishes. Chanting in a different tongue now the cloaked figure pours a liquid on the stone which causes the stone to hiss and sizzle before the reaction ceases.

Mr. Saito quirks an eyebrow before nodding at the cloaked figure and returning to his work. When he looks back at the area the cloaked figure is gone and the stone upon which Kris was meditating is as clean as if it had been washed in a river.

Kris walks into the kitchen. Jean Phillipe is nowhere to be seen, which suits him fine. He walks over to the cupboard and takes aout a glass. He then walks over to the sink, and even thought the glass is spotless, Kris rinses it out. He then takes a towel and begins the process of methodically drying it.

When Kris first started his magic act, he would get butterflies somethign fierce. His mentor at the time recommend he find some simple activity he can do anywhere, and turn it into a ritual. He did this before every show his first year. Twenty minutes to pour himself a glass of water and drink it.

He took the glass over to the freezer, and grabbing the metal tongs, one by one he filled his cup with ice. He didn't just go through the motions either, he experienced the whole thing. The sound of the metal tongs grasping the ice, the weight of the ice on his hands, the cold air wafting from the ice, the sound of the ice as it bounced into his cup.

Then after the glass was exactly two thirds full, we pulled out pitcher of clean water and slowly poured the water over the ice. He watched as the water flowed over the ice, listened to the water crack the ice, and then watched the final drops drip into the cup.

The he sat down with his cup and drank his glass of water over the next ten minutes. Every moment was a ritual. He carefully perfomed it just like he had all those years ago. Finally when he was finished, he took the glass over to the sink and carefully washed it. As methodically as everything else, he cleaned and dried the glass, put it back in it's place, and returned the towel to its original position.

Of course. He needed to ask someone... anyone for help. Until he did that, he wouldn't get any. Even if it was the wrong person, he needed to ask. Kris eventually walks back towards the library.

"You dont honestly think she will help you do you?" that harsh whisper grates on your soul as it tries to crack your resolve. "She doesnt udnerstand us, she doesnt know the bond we have."

He didn't get it. Or maybe he did get it and was afraid.

It's not about receiving help. Not yet.

It's about breaking down this wall that was being built between Kris and everyone else. He wanted to be the only voice in Kris' ear. Kris needed to let others in.

Kris and Green Lantern

"Feel better now?" Ashley chimes in from behind a book that covers nearly half her body as Kris renters the library. The other snarls violently like a pissed off wolf at her appearance but its influence is still limited and also it seems distracted as if something else were dividing its attention.

For a few moments there is a somewhat awkward silence before Ashley finally closes the oversized volume and stands up to look kris right in the eye. "Look Kris, whatever it is we'll work it out." she says while laying a gentle hand on his cheek "We can work anything out if were together."

The other shudders at her touch and hisses like an enraged cat as Kris can feel the urge to lash out at her violently passing through him.

Sorry nine when your ready hop in and take over until then ive made Ken wait long enough to move this forward.

A couple of hours of snooping around and even some half hearted rolls at the craps tables, which actualy nets you enough money for a nice dinner doesnt really bear fruit for the investigation.

A causal pair of slacks and a polo shirt matches you to most of the working stiffs who come here in an attempt to win their fortune, some will, most will never do more then give away money; Such is the nautre of such places.

Your about to give up when you hear a siren go off which might normally be trouble but in the case of a casino can also mean someones won a major jackpot on one of the slots.

A crowd of people hustles over to where a young gent has just won a million dollars on the big wheel random slots.

Kris looks her in the eye. Part of him is ready to chicken out; this is just what their budding relationship doesn't mean. Still, he needs to ask someone.

He walks over and picks up the book that he tossed against the wall earlier. His mind is filled with a thousand voices, all of them his own. At least they drown out the other.

"I need help."

There it was.

"That part of me, my deal? It's taken on a life of its own. A voice... a very loud voice. It's a distraction at best, and usually it is far, far worse. I can't sleep, I can't meditate, I can't focus. I had to cancel all my shows this week. It's like it's trying to take me over, and I don't know how much longer I can hold out."

"I know this isn't what you signed on for; all I know right now is I am drowning and I need help."

"Ok then" Ashley responded. Her voice was quiet, gentle, and above all, accepting. She didn't recoil from Kris's revelation, or even appear all that surprised. Sure, she hadn't expected this turn of events, but whatever concern over Kris's condition she felt was overpowered by her simple relief that all the stress and distance she'd felt between them was something concrete. Something that could actually be addressed and solved. Taking Kris's hands in her own, Ashley bent forward and gave Kris a small kiss. A Simple gesture of her continued trust in him, demon or not. "Then lets get you some help."

Once again, Ashley surprises Kris. Right as she kisses him, HE makes the most disgusting comment regarding Ashley which causes Kris to wince as she pulls away.

"I'm sorry. It knows all the right buttons to push." He pauses to let the laughter die down in his mind. He closes his eyes a second and takes a deep breath. He opens them and the sight of Ashley's eyes give him the strength to keep going despite him.

"I wish I knew where to start. Aside from my mentor, I'm not sure where to get assistance, and he isn't the easiest person to get in touch with. I'm still waiting for a response about our faux-Anubis problem."

Unfortunately the crowd of people rushing to congratulate the new winner obscures your view of the guy in the hoody and black and yellow raincoat who passes behind you without looking up and the 3 goons in suits who follow him around a corner.

Your about to continue your search when theyre is a scream of a woman from behind you followed by the storng smell of ozone and burnt flesh.

"Damn!" Chris yanked out his phone, dialed 911 and dropped it on the nearest table. Then he ran in the direction of the scream.

"Yep thats me!" She chirps happily and gifts you with yet another brilliant smile "I was sooo hoping theyd pick me especialy after you guys saved my bacon at the mall back then."

Her eyes suddenly widen as if she just remembered something and she reaches down and picks up an easy carry case from which she pulls a notebook which she hands to you, "Oh you probably want to see my work."

The notebook upon examination is a picture in brilliance from your perspective. She has a degree from MIT in Thermal engineering and secondary honors for physics and theoretical mathematics. All in all an impressive resume and one worthy to work in any Oracle lab. She migth also be able to help you with a few of the design flaws as you see them in the armor.

She also has a solid professional credentials with references from several big names in the fields including your old mentor Dr. Charles Epps which explains her solid ability with Theoretical mathmatics and game theory.

All of which she exitedly points out to you as you read, even throwing in a humerous annecdote about a final year prank where the class used a universal bonding agent to glue the super intendants desk furniture to the ceiling of his office... with him in it. Dont ask.

Needless to say its pretty clear that she is fully capable of assisting you on multiple potential projects, which given your current busy status would be a boon. Add in that she seems a perfectly friendly and charming young lady.

Hornet looked over the notebook and had to admit Karen's background is impressive. Dr. Epps doesn't give references to just anyone, so that spoke volumes for her in Hornet's mind. She definately could be a big help here in the lab and depending on just how good her work was Hornet wouldn't be adverse to sharing credit with her on certain projects, but first he'd have to see her in action.

Looking up from the notebook Hornet smiles at Karen. "Alright, you've definately got all the signatures from all the right people. So let's see what you can do in a lab, I've got a couple on-going projects that should be no sweat for you." He says as he hands back the notebook and rises from his seat. "Follow me and I'll give you the two-dollar tour on the way."

After the short tour, Hornet walks into the lab where he's been working on improving the flight system of his armor. On the table are several sets of blueprints complete with notes on scaling the various parts down to the sizes needed and dealing with the heat those parts would experience. "Alright Karen, look this over and tell me what you think."

There was nothing like jumping in feet first in the deep end, so Hornet wanted to see Karen's work process up close. The reworking of his flight system was a good starting point.

As you run around the corner past the 2 screaming waitresses you discover a grizzly scene. Three men in what used to be semi nice suits look like theyve been put through a furnace. Upon closer inspection all 3 are dead with serious third degree burns over parts of their bodies.

Still though you are well familiar with these types of burns and you'd wager a years sallary that they all died from heart failure brought on by acute tachycardia induced by high voltage electricity.

As you check the three for vitals signs you do catch one thing that all 3 men have in common.

They are all armed with silenced pistols only one of which managed to get it out and if the casing on the ground is any indication that one got a shot off.

you also find a splash of blood on the wall in a splatter pattern which means the fallen person hit who ever they were aiming for.

A couple of score marks along the wall also reek of ozone and a high voltage discharge of electricty.

Looks liek these three ran into your target or were after him and he got them first.

It looked like whatever the Electrocutioner had been hanging around here for was happening. Unfortunately for security. With no time to waste, Chris turned on the waitresses. "Which way did he go!?"
