Joe Singleton's Art

Postby DSumner » Thu Jun 21, 2012 2:39 pm

Joe Singleton is a writer, artist, and long time gamer. He's the creator of the online comic, Ad Astra, write Hero Blog, and number of other projects. I figured I'd share some of his work with you, as he's done a number of commissions for me.

These are excellent...I like them. The one picture though is cropped quite short and cuts out part of the banner.

I'll see what I can do about resizing it. Plus Joe should be stopping in hear to check the place out as well, as he's trying to get more PRG work (he's an old school gamer, as well as a an artist and writer).

Okay, I resized the image of Legacy so that it'd fit properly.

Here's a pic of Joe's old Villains and Vigilantes character, Vanguard.

Heh, Vanguard reminds me of an old character, The Dark. He was an indy character and had the same crazy boots. I always got a kick out of him and recently designed a character costume with the same boots - funny that you just posted this. :) It's all good work overall! Do you post on any art sites like www.penciljack.com? If not, I encourage you to do so. You'll level up fast. Really fast. I've been on PJ for 4 years now and the old work in my sketchblog thread is painful to look at compared to what I'm doing now. It's a great site for critiques - just be prepared for them - you need a thick skin there, but it's worth it. Keep drawing! :)
Cheers, Alex

Joe's on Deviant Art, and a couple of other art related sites, I'll nudge him to stop in here, say hi, and answer questions.

Here are a few pieces I've had commissioned by Joe.

Sentry
Image

Sentry is my Iron Man rip of....errr, "homage" character.

Iron Eagle
Image

Iron Eagle is the brilliant inventor, Quinton Avery. President and CEO of Avery Aerospace Engineering, one of the largest aerospace firms in the country, as well as the money man behind my NPC hero team, the Guardians(not to be confused with Joe's hero team of the same name). He also designed and built the team's supersonic VTOL transport aircraft, the Thunderhawk.

Brightstar
Image

Brightstar is a light welding heroine, and member of my NPC hero team, the Guardians. She bumps heads with Iron Eagle do to her liberal political views.

Nice. I really like the clean lines and uncluttered feeling of his compositions. I tend to gravitate to art I can use for characters and displays during games, and this guy's stuff just went high on my Go-To list. Thanks for introducing him over here, D.
