Re: James Dawsey's Art Board
In case you guys like seeing stuff 'in progress'... I decided to share the cover of Strange Attractors, work in progress.

I didn't do the pencils, but the inks and colors are all my fault. Pencils are by the incomparable Denise Jones.

Re: James Dawsey's Art Board
I kind of like the one without the power effect for Amp.
Of course I like it that way because it makes it look like he's trying entirely too hard to seem dramatic and epic for the photographer, while Heartbreaker looks petulant and sullen like somebody forced her to be in the photo and she's not liking it.
I love it ;~)

Haha! Thanks. Her name is actually Rail, but Heartbreaker might have been a good option if we had time to change it.

I'm enjoying the coloring on this one, too. I should be back to work on it in about an hour (crazy schedule this weekend) so I'm hoping to have it done tomorrow morning/afternoon.

Excellent! (queue up the air guitar riff)
Re: James Dawsey's Art Board
That picture is great. I think you've not sold this supplement to me. The rules options and these images are just plain awesome, covered in awesome sauce.
Keep up the good work!
EDIT: Ignore the NOT that somehow jumped in that sentence, yeesh.

I hope that was a typo, and you meant 'now' instead of 'not'!

Thanks for the compliments, either way!

Re: James Dawsey's Art Board
Thanks guys! I can't wait for the final version. We're in the process of editing the PDF right now and tweaking the layout. With luck, I'll be posting it as soon as tomorrow... so early birds can grab it then. I'm planning to participate in an upcoming sale with it, which means the product has to be 'live' before the sale... so I'm going to try and put it on sale when I post it through the start of the RPGNow sale... then I have to figure out how to minimize any bumps in transition between my personal sale and the site-wide sale.

Re: James Dawsey's Art Board
Assuming this is a study for the Heartbreakers cover, I'm curious about why you decided to make the changes you did. Less about the minor proportions, and more the changes in the character's details, outfit, hairstyle, pose, etc...Shadowchaser wrote:One thing about my pencils, certain things can change a lot between this step and the 'inking' process, including proportions and such. I'm already looking at this drawing and seeing tweaks I need to make...

Well, the cover ended up being penciled by another artist (Denise Jones) and I just inked and colored it. The original sketch I showed was a little bland, pose-wise, and Jack brought up the idea of her twisting something into a heart shape. After fiddling with a few ideas, I came up with the pose where she's snapping the heart in two, which I liked a lot. I constantly fiddle with character designs until I have a finished piece, and then try to stick to that model. Hairstyles, though... models tend to wear their hair a lot of different ways for photo shoots, so I figured the minor variations there were in character more than anything else.
