PL Damage Cap and Critical Hits question

PL Damage Cap and Critical Hits question

So, getting ready for a PL5 campaign and double checking. If I have a rank 5 Strike power, it does 5 damage which is at the cap for damage. So if the character rolls a critical hit, the extra 5 damage is wasted, correct? Useless unless I add in the Followup Attack feat to at least get a second attack out of it, or so it seems. Is this all correct?

Thanks alot, Peregrine. I thought I had remembered that it did so, but after having read through the book looking for that info and failing to find it, I had to come here to double check. Sorry that wasted some peoples time.

Most people on the board are helpful and don't mind helping people with questions about the rules. I do not consider your posts a waste of time. People who do shouldn't waste their time with rude posts.

I did read both of those. I just read them both again. They both say it adds 5 to damage. Neither says that it bypasses the PL Damage Cap. That is the specific info I was trying to confirm.

This is one of the few things that permits Damage to exceed Limit cap.
