He has Defensive Roll (2)... I just kinda, um, forgot to write it down.

BACKGROUND
Without a doubt, my favorite member of the Legion of Super-Heroes, Tenzil Kem of Bismoll... Matter-Eater Lad! For a full analysis of why Tenzil is awesome, I refer you to Hero History: Matter-Eater Lad from Major Spoilers.

Matter-Eater Lad was the fifteenth member inducted into the Legion of Super-Heroes and served a long and storied career, saving the universe four times by himself and countless more times alongside the rest of the Legion. All members of the Legion undergo personal combat training, and Tenzil (who canonically knos his power is of limited use) is said to have been an avid student, so I've built him to reflect that he most likely focused on not-getting-hit, rather than taking blows: that's what Superboy and Ferro are for...

:!: A fun take on the classic "Captain Patriotic" archetype, inspired by the picture. No real background in mind, other than a guy who is a few hundred years old and fought in a bunch of wars... the grizzled, "lifer" Sergeant instead of the steadfast, commanding Captain.

BACKGROUND
Hostess ran these ads in comic books starting in 1977 with Batman and the Mummy. This continued for many, many years. Because tossing food at madmen (some of whom seemed to have naught but special ability to really enjoy peaches) is what crime-fighting is all about! If you were a comic book reader between 1977 and, oh, 1993 or so... you've seen these ads.

I still have fond memories of Spider-Man defeating villains with fruit pies. If I remember correctly, sometimes there was a crossover via Hostess Twinkies too (the Twinkie Kid I believe?)

That Affliction is WAY too low. That should probably be at least 20 ranks... :D

I remember all those ads. I am re-organizing my stash and I have a ton of comics from the 70's with those adds in them. I find it funny that I have 25 cent comics that are twice as thick as my $4.99 comics that I get now. Ah, inflation...

I can remember scrounging back issues of Batman Family, which ran from 1975 to 1978, in the back issue bin of the corner comic shop in the mid-1980s. 68-pages "giants" with cover prices of 50¢ to $1, and I was getting them at 25¢ a piece. They were mostly `70s reprints of `60s comics, but they were new to me!

I've kinda had a thing for the Dynamite Duo of Batgirl and Robin ever since. You may have suspected... Image

Background
The Doppel Gang is a street-gang based in and around Atlantic City, NJ, which consists primarily of members of an alien species known as the Etiäinens. The Etiäinens were originally brought to our planet in the late 1930's as mercenary allies by Nazi Germany. Natural shape-changers and mildly telepathic, large numbers of them were smuggled into the United States as spies or sabatoeurs, but the bulk were used closer to Berlin, serving behind the lines of the Eastern Front in the Soviet Union. The U.S.S.R. discovered the aliens in their midst in the final days of the war and are beleived to have eliminated the entirety of the population in eastern Europe as a secret part of their infamous purges.

Fortunately for those sent to America, the government of this country would not learn of the existence of the Nazi's alien spies until the 1990s, with the collapse of the Soviet Union and declassification of many KGB secrets. Unfortunately for those Etiäinens on the American mission, the Soviets had captured and killed their leadership and the lower rankshad no means of leaving our world. The Etiäinen natural lifespan is short -- 25 to 30 years -- and they mature quite quicky, thus the majority of Etiäinens curently living are fifth or sixth generations removed from their spacefaring ancestors.

Some very few live wholly "stolen lives," getting close to a wealthy or connected human, while using their mental powers to learn everything they can about the chosen target. Once they have all the knowledge they need, they will quietly eliminate their target and assume his or her form, taking their place in life. Mostly these "Doppel Gangers" live on the fringes of American soceity, infiltrating and subverting human street gangs, forming into the so-called "Dopple Gangs" of their own, or occupying the lower tiers of organized crime.

The normal appearance of a Etiäinen doppelganger is that of a grayish/purple-skinned humanoid with a nearly featureless face and milky white eyes. They have almost no hair in their normal form, but are generally well above the human norm in strength, endurance, and speed.

 A fun way to spin the basic, faceless Mooks to spice things up for your players. Solid, if not stellar, PL5 goons they are bit behind where they should be in defenses, but have a solid offense and their shapeshifting is a fun trick.

Doppel-Gangers, definately a fun and interesting take on the normal goons and thugs faced by the heroes. They could reek havok on a superhero's life if they found out his secret identity and went about replacing those he works with, loved ones, etc.
Oh, their Stealth total should be [+6/+8] with their Agility.

Namor the Sub-Mariner is a the oldest character in Marvel Comics line-up -- actually predates the formation of that company -- as well as one of the first superheroes period, debuting in Spring 1939. I cannot hope to do his full background justice, he's been around as long as the Batman himself! Hit your local library or at least visit his page on Wikipedia.

 Comparisons to Aquaman are unavoidable... So here goes: Basically Namor is a far fiercer combatant than DC's King of the Seven Seas: Namor is stronger, tougher, and nigh invulnerable. Aquaman, on the other hand, is more versatile and much faster than the Avenging Son: Namor can fly, but Aquaman swims at ridiculous speeds and can always summon allies. Namor can "talk to fish," but he needs the magical Horn of Proteus to summon sea monsters.

Let me preface this by saying I've never seen more than 10 seconds of Dr. Who in my life.

However, your Daleks seem a little underwhelming from what I've read/heard about them. Mostly offensively. While the Daleks are PL 9 on defense (PL 7 against ranged attacks), they only seem to hit their caps on Will and Fort. Offensively, they're only PL 6, and they have a flat +0 to hit with their blasters, as opposed to the +8 they have to hit with their manipulator arms.

Maybe you have a good reason for this, I don't know, I don't know much about Daleks. But I would think they deserve at least a few rank of either Ranged Combat or Ranged Attack (gunstick), so they could have a reasonable chance of blasting a soldier (as is, they'd be whiffing nearly 75%) of the time. Also, if you have Damage 12, Penetrating seems kind of unnecessary, at least going by Impervious as written.

Ron Lafayette was an Olympic-hopeful wrestler with big dreams and a promise of a full-ride at his pick of colleges, but his athletic career was derailed when it was found he used steroids. Dejected, Lafayette joined the All Theologies of Man International Church to restore his faith. All Theologies was a cult lead by Alan Corday -- the adopted name of the last of the Nazi Etiäinen aliens -- who imbued Lafayette with the powers stolen from the former Third Reich. Lafayette had no idea of the source of his new powers thinking that the teachings of the All Theologies cult had simply unlocked his semi-divine potential. Lafayette became the cult leader after Corday died (murdered in his sleep by Aries himself). Now calling himself Aries, thsi deluded "messiah of the atomic age" has lost most of the followers his benefactor had once gathered, bu the few who remain are as devout as they are deluded.

 Cross the god-complex of Thanos, with bargain-basement verision of Darkseid's powerset, and the brains of Rhino. You get an incredibly fun villain to smack your players around with. I find he works best as the big gun villain being manipulated by a much more intelligent, but physically weaker, mastermind. Back in 1e, I had the Clock King using a prototype verision him to keep my JLA/Avenger level heroes busy for weeks. Characterization is simple, imagine all the dialouge of Superman II's General Zod being delivered by an evil BRIAN BLESSED.

Hell yeah he's got Attractive (2). Am I right, ladies?

Actually I agree with that totally. The guy is pure alpha male, so if you go by the use your looks and personality to seduce the opposite sex, then yes I can easilyl see a guy like Namor having 2 ranks in that fashion.

Re: Batgirl III's Character Thread (Namor)

It's not just that Namor is good-looking (although he is) or that he is well-versed in wooing the ladies (although he is), it is also that he is damn good at it. I think its a combination of his looks, his confidence, and his warrior-poet way of speaking.

Who hear would love to see an issue where Thor and Namor do nothing but debate what to have for dinner during a slow night at Avengers mansion?

"The Avenging Son of Atlantis craves something salty, like my beloved Ocean Kingdom! I say to you -- Applebee's!"

"Fie on your hornet-ridden fruits! The Odinson demands ale, wenches and the pinion of tiny bison! I say thee Hooter's!"
