So after getting bored with 4th ed. D&D, my friends and I decided to start a super-hero game once we saw the awesomeness that was The Avengers. We picked up M&M 3rd Edition after some quick research, and I have to say, I really enjoy this system. So I started writing up some pop-culture and comic book characters, and would like to submit them to this forum so that I can see what others think and get some feedback.

..........So representing Angel probably somewhere after he left to LA but before he took over Wolfram and Hart, I decided a PL 9 character would be fitting. He doesn't really reach superheroic levels, but he's still a powerful vampire and great at kicking butt on a street-level.

..........Like Angel, this build of Buffy represents her somewhere after Angel left to LA but before her mother died. In my universe, I think Angel has a slight edge on her, having been around for a long time and being a particularly deadly vampire. But Buffy has more advantages and luck on her side.

..........So I like the idea of Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Iceman, Human Torch, and Kitty Pryde creating a sort of RPG party. You have Spider-Man and Spider-Woman, who are essentially the same character. Then Iceman and Human Torch, your blasters, where Iceman focuses on defense and accuracy, while Human Torch is stronger, but more of a glass cannon. And finally Kitty Pryde, the weakest of the group, but probably the most skill-monkey-esque.

Very nice builds. Especially like the quite thorough complications lists, with the explanations of each instead of simply one word problems. I do have a few critiques, if that's alright?

1. The number of power points used is traditionally listed next to the power level as well as at the end. To make it obvious.

2. I don't think that equipment points can be spent as an array. You are expected to spend the full amount on each item, even if you cannot use more than one item at a time. However, having said that, it is also not usually necessary to buy a range of melee weapons. If you buy whichever melee weapon costs the most ep, GMs will usually gloss over you switching it between adventures as long as you remember to mention it.

Also, I don't think you need to spend points on having a stake. You can have one for free. Go on, just write it on your sheet. If someone complains, rub it out, then immediately have Buffy find a piece of wood and break off a shard. "Now do I have a stake?"

I took my style of build-write-ups from Taliesin, but if it makes it easier for everyone, I can list Point Costs next to the PL.

In the Handbook, the Utility Belt, bought with Equipment Points, is an array. And I've seen builds around here (specifically Punisher builds) that make arsenals into arrays. If not, bah, I hand-wave it away. And as far as spending a point on a stake, it really wouldn't make the character spend any less on the Equipment advantage, so I figure why not have it on there? Angel and Buffy always seem to have a stake handy anyways.

I just meant that having the total rewritten next to the PL made it easy to see at a glance whether the build was PC style (fitting the 15pp per PL guidelines) or not. Not necessarily a requirement, but I like to write it that way.

On the whole, I like these. I'm in love with Spiderman, so I appreciate your take on his stats.

I feel that I have to say in the course of Buffy it was made explicitly clear that vampires and realized Sayers in the Buffyverse had superhuman strength, agility, and stamina. I also seem to remember some vampire shoving a car a few feet across the pavement. I would recommend putting in points for the enhanced traits in those abilities to reflect that. Or at least a little bit into powerlifting for the lifting/carrying capacity.

Nice stuff. Your guys match up well with mine, but are a bit cheaper (I see you made Scorpion's Spear Equipment instead of a Power- any particular reason? Aside from the fact that it probably would be that if not for game mechanics and the movies). If Sub-Zero's immune to Cold Effects, could he be frozen in a Mirror Match or against his brother?

I also notice they're only PL 10 with their Equipped Bladed Weapons, and don't match up well unarmed, or even with many of their Special Moves, save the Spear & Ice Ball.

My builds are sort of an amalgam of what I've seen in MK 2011, MK Legacy, and what I've read on the MK Wikia. In MK Legacy, when Scorpion is fighting Sub-Zero, if I remember correctly, Sub-Zero disarms Scorpion and Scorpion isn't all that distraught. He just keeps on fighting. My build philosophy tends to be that if something is just equipment, it gets built with equipment points. It can be lost, stolen, destroyed, but it can also be replaced. If something is far more special, but still equipment - like Thor's hammer Mjolnir - then it gets bought using Power points. An example: if I had built Scorpion more similar to how he appeared in the first movie, where the spear was a sentient serpent thing that protruded from his hand, then it'd probably be a power. And yeah, I figured Sub-Zero would be immune to his brothers powers, but they never seem to exist at the same time, so in a Kampaign based on the video games, it'd probably never be a problem.

That's something I think I should change - upping the accuracy on their unarmed attacks to reach PL 10, that way when they use their weapons, there's a trade-off, similar to your builds. More power, less accuracy, but they can be also be disarmed. That way they will probably rely more on unarmed attacks, similar to the games, and use weapons for heavier strikes (the way weapons are part of kombos).
