Motivation ~Destruction: Brawna loves to trash anyplace she can just because she can.


Background: Julia Hannah had the misfortune of taking her vacation in Emerald City this year, as she was among those transformed by the Silver Storm. In Julia’s case her body was completely transformed; gaining over a hundred pounds in weight, several inches increased in height as well as her hair and eye color changing as well.

Her new powers came with a new personality too – one that was cruel, nasty and vindictive. Calling herself Brawna she joined the other Stormers in the ensuing riot that happened after the Silver Storm had vanished. Unlike many of her fellow Stormers, Brawna managed to get away but her short fuse makes it a fairly sure thing that she will pop back up somewhere at some point.

Identity: The fact Elliot Noth is Flatfoot isn't known to the general public, but the Chief of Police knows and so does his partner.

Motivation ~Protect & Serve: Flatfoot feels that it is his duty to use his powers to protect the public from crime.


Background: El Noth happened to be in Emerald City on a prisoner transport, returning a captured criminal to the EMPD. Once he’d done that El decided to take the rest of the day for himself and ventured down to Yellow Brick Row to grab something to eat, but what he found instead would change his life forever.

The Silver Storm.

Despite being hit by the odd, blue lightning given off by the strange clouds, El seemed to be fine aside from a tingling sensation all over his body and a slight ringing in his ears. Once AEGIS had come in and took over jurisdiction he was ready to head home and El didn't give it another thought.

Then a week later he was chasing a perp down when El noticed that he was moving faster with every step he took, the next thing he knew he was passing the perp, then the prep was over twenty blocks away from what he could tell when he finally stopped. Turning around, El easily backtracked and caught the criminal he'd been chasing and after bringing the perp in he went home and began testing his emerging powers.

Two weeks later El revealed his superspeed powers to the Chief of Police since he didn't want to be some kind of vigilante, and thus breaking the law. The Chief was very interested in having a metahuman tied to the police force and over the following few weeks plans were made and a month later Flatfoot was debuted to the public. So far he's been making a huge difference in Starling City; having broken up a drug ring, busted a chop-shop operation and found a kidnapped little girl.

Vulnerable: Strong-Bot is vulnerable to magnetic attacks, taking at extra degree of failure against them.


Background: Karl King was one of the techs working on a project in producing a remote controlled robot work force being done by KessKorp. But one late night while working on several of the units Karl found himself in the middle of a robbery being done by VIPER agents who sought the take several of the robots and their design schematics so they could mass produce the units for their own ends.

Karl was able to activate several of the robots to defend him as well as keep VIPER from taking what they'd came for, as their basic operating system allowed them to follow verbal commands. But even though the robots managed to drive off the VIPER agents, Karl was hit by stray blaster fire badly enough to realize that he wasn't going to last until help arrived.

He quickly jury-rigged one of the helmets that linked to the robots so that it would record his brain waves and project them into the robot it was connected to. So as Karl King died his mental clone came online, forced to watch then the police arrived.

Karl almost ended up going to jail for his own murder until his supervisor arrived on the scene and supported his version of what had happened after a quick inspection of the modified control helmet. Then it was getting recognized as still being alive, which was a touch trickier, but Beth Wainwright managed to get a ruling in Karl's favor despite the fact all his assets had been frozen until his identity issue could be cleared up.

Karl still lives in Freedom City but has become something of a hermit given his condition, watching hour after hour of television and only going out when the solitude becomes too much for him to bear. But it seems that every time he ventures out, Karl finds himself dealing with some kind of criminal, be they simple muggers on the street or Rant and Rave robbing a night club.

Relationship: Jack is dating Olivia Warner (aka Shrubling).


Background: The unknowing descendant of Jack that climbed the Beanstalk, Jack Dalton learned of his familial connection with his discovery of the giant's bones and the last of the five magic beans that had been hidden on his grandfather’s farm.

When he touched the bones Jack unwittingly fulfilled the last part of the curse the giant, Blunderbore, muttered before dying from the injuries he suffered in his fall from the Beanstalk and Jack grew to a height of twenty feet tall. The problem was that Jack was stuck at that height, forcing him to try and figure out a way to reverse the curse. While searching through his grandfather's property with his girlfriend, Olivia Warner, they found a portal from which giants were coming through - the other half of Blunderbore's curse coming to pass.

At first Jack tried to fight them, but being unused to his new stature he was quickly beaten and he and Olivia were taken prisoner by the giants. Fortunately for them Hammer Maiden and her dwarven companion Grimdore Silverforge arrived (after hearing of rampaging giants in the American Midwest) and with their help Jack was able to become comfortable with his new height.

Together the four of them, as Olivia had gained plant-based powers due to her eating the magic beans to keep the giants from getting them, were able to drive the giants back through the portal and seal it shut. After spending a few weeks with Hammer Maiden and Grimdore learning how to better use their newly gained abilities, Jack and Olivia returned home to New Troy, Ohio where they use their powers to act as heroes.

Reputation ~Ladies Man: Gunslinger can’t help but to flirt and chat up any pretty lady he happens to see, even if it’s during a heist.

Word Of Honor: Despite his devil-may-care attitude, once Gunslinger gives his word he will keep it no matter what (even if it means letting a good score go).


Background: Jesse Cassidy grew up with his mother, abusive father and beloved brother, whom he idolized. On one occasion Cassidy’s drunken father attacks his brother, prompting Jesse to attempt to end his father's reign of terror on the family with his own pistol.

However, Jesse’s aim is off and he shoots his brother instead, killing him. The psychological effects of this event are a major driving force behind Jesse’s becoming Gunslinger; he spent years perfecting his skill in marksmanship until he was a crack shot with any kind of gun then went on to become a mercenary until he’d raised enough money to pay for a treatment by the Power House (which brought him to almost peak of human ability physically) then paid Fabricators Inc. to build him a custom set of energy pistols so that he could have even more of an edge over the majority of his competitors.

In the years since then Gunslinger, as Jesse chose to call himself (it sounded a lot cooler when he was younger…), has fought a variety of heroes – from Foreshadow and the Bowman to Johnny Rocket and Pseudo.

Secret: The truth behind how Cuatro gained her powers and came to work for KessKorp. (Cuatro isn't aware of this complication yet, but is starting to realize that things are not as they seem)


Background: KessKorp’s board of directiors decided to invest in their own corporate spokes-model, but wanted a “super-heroine” type. Executive Robert “Bob” Dixon, was approached by Anton Sevarius, KessKorp’s head of R&D, had recently developed something that he claimed could give Dixon what he wanted – a corporate-made metahuman.

Elisa Chavez was picked up just as she was crossing the border from Mexico to the United States, and Dixon deemed that she had the right ‘look’ he was wanting and gave Sevarius the green light to proceed. Elisa was subjected to the procedure designed by Sevarius that implanted thousands of nanites into her body that basically re-wrote her body’s DNA into a new sequence that had been programmed into them by Sevarius (based on DNA samples of various metahumans he had somehow obtained over the years). Needless to say the process was exceptionally painful for Elisa, and took days to be completed due to the amount of changes that had to be made to her on a genetic level by the nanites.

Another feature of the nanites on Elisa was that she was brainwashed so she would be the perfect employee for KessKorp and its subsidiaries; altering her memories of her life according to the cover story that KessKorp’s PR team had come up with. From there Elisa, or Cuatro as she was named, underwent training with her powers and in depth testing of her abilities. Once Sevarius was certain she was stable and possessed firm control over her powers, Cuatro was released into the care of Dixon.

He wasted no time in making Cuatro the focus of a large marketing campaign for entire lines of products produced by companies owned by KessKorp. And while Cuatro wasn’t seriously portrayed as a metahuman in those advertisements, special effects were used to simulate her powers. The plan was for there to be a ‘crisis event’ about six months into Cuatro’s career and have her resolve it, revealing that she actually was a metahuman and increase her public profile and therefore the products she was endorsing.

However it seems that Cuatro’s mental conditioning is beginning to lapse; she’s having conflicting memories of her life – her actual past versus the fabricated past made up by KessKorp. So far it has only led to her being ‘difficult’ on the set of a couple commercial shoots but if not caught soon by Dixon and his people then it is difficult to predict what the outcome will be; Cuatro could suffer a mental breakdown and go on a rampage or simply suffer a stroke and fall into a coma.

Background: While on a field trip to ASTRO Labs from Joseph Clark High School, Dwayne Miller found himself covered in a strange chemical liquid thanks to the horse play of his classmates. When his body went into convulsions as a result Dwayne was rushed to the Albright Institute, fortunately the doctors there were able to stabilize Dwayne's condition and determine the effects the chemical had on him: Dwayne's body had been transformed into a kind organic rubber. What followed over the next few days were a battery of tests that found the transformation couldn't be reversed, which led to Dwayne to meeting the recruiter for Claremont Academy.

It wasn't a bad place, he even made a few friends while there, and over the next few years Dwayne learned how to use his powers in various ways. Upon graduation Dwayne got a job as an EMT to support himself while he spent his off hours using his powers to fight crime, both mundane and super. It seems that he's built enough of a reputation for himself that he’s teamed up with Sonic a number of times and is slowly being brought into the small group of heroes that he’s unofficially working with.

Background: A scientist at ASTRO Labs, Elizabeth Brooks was part of a think-tank that was working on an experiment to find other energy sources to replace fossil fuels. The device they built was supposed to harness energy from another dimension but due to bad calibration the machine ended up accessing the Schattenwelt instead.

Not designed to deal with that type of energy, the device quickly overloaded. Realizing what was happening, Elizabeth managed to get her associates clear of the room but before she could follow them the machine exploded and she was engulfed in the dark energies.

Days later when she woke up she learned that the machine was totally destroyed and fortunately she didn’t seemed to be seriously injured by the ordeal, though she would have a permanent reminder of it; her blonde hair had turned white.

At least that’s what the doctors thought.

Over the following weeks Elizabeth’s personality began to change: where as she’d been a more reserved kind of woman she became outspoken and confrontational. Until finally she lashed out at a co-worker when he argued with her, which was something her supervisor couldn’t over look, as he’d been cutting Elizabeth a break because of the accident, but that was well past what was acceptable.

Unemployment didn’t sit well with Elizabeth and while in her living room, ranting about how her former co-workers were all going to pay she manifested her powers, which she promptly used to trash her home in a fit of rage. It was only a few days later that the villainess Harpy made her criminal debut and now Elizabeth takes what she wants and doesn’t let anyone mess with her anymore.

Accident: Mac Magma has to be careful because of his plasma form, or else he might melt right through a floor or something else embarrassing.

Motivation ~Respect: Mac wants to be viewed by others as the powerful super crook he knows that he is.

Vulnerable: Mac is vulnerable to cold or water based effects, taking an extra degree of failure against them.


Background: A long time super villain who gained his powers due to a plot by Professor Fathom which involved taking a sample of the elemental energies of two different members of Factor Four and infusing them into ‘test subjects’ (or randomly kidnapped people to put it another way). Mac got energy from Pyre and Granite, resulting in his developing magma based abilities.

The problem was that Mac was already a lowlife crook when he was kidnapped, so his gaining powers were something of a serious upgrade in his mind and he was the first of those experimented on to accept Professor Fathom’s offer of joining the Factor Four.

Despite their increased numbers the ‘new’ Factor Four were defeated by members of the Freedom League who’d managed to locate their base, and while the original members were sent to Blackstone the newer members were sent to ASTRO Labs to try and have the transformation reversed. After several years of no progress they were taken to Adrian Eldrich and within a few days the Master Mage had managed to devise a ritual that would remove the energy of the Prime Elements from them if they wanted it badly enough.

The problem was that Mac really didn’t want to lose his powers, thus he remained man-shaped magma when the ritual was finished and he quickly made the most of the moment by escaping from the lab where Eldrich had been brought to them and embarking on the life of crime he’d been dreaming of living.

That was in 1974 and Mac is still kicking around the underworld, though for the most part he is considered to be a timer that just doesn’t know when to ‘hang up his cape’ as he’s never really pulled off that ‘big score’ all crooks secretly dream about. So he keeps working, mostly by himself but every now and then he manages to team up or get hired by a mastermind type to do some grunt work.

Vulnerable: Her cybernetic body parts are vulnerable to magnetic attacks.

Background: An Olympic marathon hopeful, Nora Greevey saw her dreams crushed when an auto accident severed both of her legs above the knee while resulting trauma to both of her arms called for them to be amputated due to gangrene having set in despite the doctor’s best efforts.

Despite her situation, Nora kept a positive attitude and kept her mind focused on her recovery then physical therapy once she was well enough to be fitted with prosthetic limbs. Two years later Nora was almost able to walk without any kind of aid, an impressive feat in itself but she still needed the help of others to get out of bed and put on her limbs.

That’s when the retired hero known as Doc Steel contacted her about a project his company, Steele Omnitech, was working on that involved prosthetic limbs – his people had developed a more realistic version that was supposed to almost perfectly mimic the abilities of a normal limb in usability and response to muscle motion but be affordable to the general public. They just needed someone to work with to conduct the final stages of testing, and he was wondering if Nora would be interested in being that person.

Suffice to say, it wasn’t a difficult choice for Nora to make and a couple of days later she arrived at Steele Omnitech‘s main labs in New York City to get started. It took a few days to get used to the new limbs but by the end of the week Nora was walking around with no trouble and the prosthetics had been designed to blend in perfectly with her body - resulting in Nora looking as if she'd never lost her legs and arms in the first place.

Then minions of Dr. Shock showed up to steal the prototype prosthetics, and finding out that they were attached to Nora they simply kidnapped her instead. Luckily enough members of the Sentinels had been visiting the facility and were able to use a tracker unit one of the scientists quickly cobbled together to track Nora down and free her before Dr. Shock could get near one of her prosthetic limbs.

But they still had to fight their way in and out of the facility, something Nora actually ended up helping them with (much to her surprise as theirs), as something clicked between Nora and her prosthetic limbs. Once her adrenaline started pumping through her body she was able to use her artificial limbs to perform superhuman stunts – running at high speeds, hitting harder than humanly possible, deflecting attacks with her prosthetics, all things that were supposedly beyond the original parameters intended.

Once Nora was back at Steele Omnitech, the technicians were surprised to learn that the adaptive systems they’d designed in the prosthetics were responsible for Nora’s sudden feats of superhuman ability. It seems the prosthetics had responded to her needs and the situation in a way that they had not thought was possible.

This of course delayed the project as this phenomena needed to be studied more in depth and Nora was allowed to keep the prosthetics both because Doc Steel didn’t have the heart to take the prosthetics back and because she had demonstrated a level of maturity in using them. So instead she was made a reserve member of the Sentinels and was given training in the use of her new abilities.

Months later Running Girl, as Nora was named by the press, can be seen around New York either on her way to a charity event or chasing down a crook.

Background: A victim of the Wild Strike, Jefferson Williams became a large lizard man with the ability to mentally 'see' his surroundings. Because of his inhuman appearance he wasn't well received by others and coupled with his already established criminal tendencies it wasn't a huge step for Jeff to make the move to super-crime.

For a couple of months Jeff pulled a couple odd jobs but kept running into either members of the newly reformed Champions or some of the few solo operating heroes of Bay City, and not making much profit for his efforts. So when he was contacted about joining the Crime Union it didn't take much convincing for him to get recruited into the group.
