Action!: Hardcore is something of an adrenaline junkie, which given his invulnerability is hard to satisfy. But put him behind the wheel of a fast car, or a top end plane and he’s pushing the limit as far as he can. Interestingly enough this has led to a friendship with one Maxell "Max" Anders (better known to the public as Anvil). A fellow thrill-seeker with a high tolerance for taking damage. The two will regularly meet to do something (which normally ends up causing a fair amount of property damage somehow….). This is a trait Hardcore’s father (Doc Steel) wishes he’d curb a bit more.

Been there, seen that: Hardcore has grown up in the world of super-heroes, so there is honestly very little that rattles him. From dealing with alien invasions, to fight insane, rogue god-like entities Hardcore remains blasé which can be a bit disconcerting to those around him who are having a bit more of a problem dealing as well.

Sense of Duty: Hardcore knows that he should use his powers to make the world a better place (of course given his powerset that means punching things [a lot!]) but he has never really backed away from the idea that in the end his efforts make a difference in the world.

Showoff: Hardcore is known for making big flashy moves during a fight.

Yeah he did, but I decided that given how hard he is to hurt to tone it down somewhat. Granted I'd forgotten that I wanted at 5 ranks total, so I bumped that up a bit and I figure with the Persistent extra he'll still work pretty well.

VIPER agents

VIPER Agents:
Cobras: The most commonly seen agents of VIPER. This is where most agents start off and end (most of the time) at least until those with special talents or enough determination earn themselves a promotion. insignia: one gold button on collar

Adders: These are the better trained, elite agents. They often are the team leaders of the Cobras, calling out combat formations and directing the actions of Cobras in the field; they also are responsible for contributing to the plans for the Nest Leader’s latest caper. insignia: two gold buttons on collar

Asps: These are the geeks of VIPER; the eggheads of all shape and style. From computers, to vehicle mechanics, medicine, chemistry, electronics, or whatever field you’d care to name, pick a scientific discipline and these are the snakes filling those roles within the organization. They're the ones working on the latest mind-altering drug to be dumped into a city's water supply or the one who puts the Dragon Tank back in working order after Captain Thunder has ripped it's turret off. Don't take them too lightly though, they still have to pass VIPER Academy just like everyone else so they know how to work a blaster just like the others. insignia: one gold diamond on collar

Pythons: The men and women of VIPER whose job it is to spy on everyone else. From the local police, to AEGIS, to the mobs and street gangs, the Pythons keep tabs on all of them. No matter how they get the information (by surveillance or infiltration of spies) as long as they get it, they've got the digital recordings to prove it. Pythons are also used as an internal security, keeping tabs on the other members of the Nests where they are assigned. They have secret meetings at certain times to share what they’ve learned with their superiors. insignia: none unique, wear whatever their cover calls for

Scarlet Serpents: Essentially VIPER's answer to Navy SEALs, Scarlet Serpents are given a much more intensive and in-depth training of tactics and how to operate in the field (this usually covers everything from vehicle combat to underwater operations as well as anything else the instructors can think of). Normally they are divided into teams of eight and given unique missions to perform while the Cobras and Adders are doing the other half of a mission (namely playing the distraction or supplying tech support). Because of the costs spent to train and educate then men and women, VIPER has made it a point to better arm them as well. insignia: a silver diamond on collar

Flying Snakes: A newer creation within VIPER, the Flying Snakes are the air support for larger Nests or operations that are airborne themed. The majority of the Flying Snakes to date are Scarlet Serpents who have shown a natural talent for using the flight suit. insignia: a pair of silver diamonds on collar


Note: Cobras, Adders, and Asps all wear the same style of uniform with insignia pins worn on the neck to signify their designation. Pythons have no unique insignia, as to keep their nature secret from those they work with and will wear a insignia of one of the other three designations as their cover. Scarlet Serpents and Flying Snakes wear a red uniform which differentiate them from other agents and they also have their own insignia pins as well.


Nest Leaders: The men and women who call the shots for the various bases across the country. They've been trained in large scale tactics as well as management of the forces under their command. They carry the rank of Commander and have at least one assistant, who has the rank of Captain, though most have two or three depending on the size of the nest they manage. The Commander is the one who is answerable to VIPER Command and often is more of a political kind of person than a solider but they do know how to use VIPER weapons just as well as any other agent. insignia: Captains wear a silver, V-styled insignia.
Commanders wear a silver, V-styled piece with a matching bar under it.

I've been toying with the idea of running the introductory scenarios in the 2E rulebook over in the Gameroom to both give myself some minor experience in GMing and some newer players a chance to try out the system and I ran into your conversions of Rant and Rave. I'm curious, who are Dusty and Burner? I didn't find any other reference to them but I was considering adding more members to the siblings' gang (since the basic challenge is aimed at 4 PL 10 heroes). I like the way you handled converting the Confusion power over to 3E since it doesn't exist as such here anymore, that one was giving me some trouble.

Dusty & Burner are a pair of characters from one of Palladium Games monthly handouts, the Rifter. They were part of a low-level street gang used in an adventure and I thought they'd be an interesting addition to the FC setting, problem is I hadn't gotten around to statting them up yet.

Basically Burner is fire controller while Dusty is an earth manipulator power-wise.

Tell you what McGuffin, here in the next couple of days I'll get them built and posted here so you can use them if you want, I'd planned on building them anyways, they were just lower on my to-do list.
