I have always liked the idea of battle suits since it is a normal person inside a shell.
I remember old Ironman comics where there was a split-panel. .. One side was the slightly ding'ed up face of Ironman while the other panel showed Stark with a bloody lip and a swollen eye.. sweat pouring down his face. The idea of the normal human in a suit appealed to me then and still does today.

I have more designs and ideas coming.

You do great work! I will be....liberating a build or two off this if I ever find a M&M campaign to join :)

I book marked the thread, looking forward to seeing page 100 :)

I just updated my REDEMPTION character a little. A small tweak that I think makes for a more interesting character.

Enjoy.

Rationale time....

I watched the Disney movie, The Sorcerer's Apprentice and even though it was not a huge success theatrically, I thought it was pretty cool. It got my mind thinking about the concept of a real magic user operating in the real world. I borrowed a few ideas from various locations.

I borrowed the concept of "Mist" from the Percy Jackson books.. "Mist" represents the collective 'reality' that people see and accept. It is a veil that shields mortals from the 'realities' of the world around us. Supernatural creatures generate a mist shield that allows them to remain in our world without giving away their true nature.

Another concept that I liked was a quote from The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

Dave (Apprentice): So is sorcery magic or science?
Balthazar Blake: Yes... Both.
Balthazar Blake: You know how humans only use about 10% of their brains? Some people are born with the ability to use all their brains. That other 90% is what allows them to manipulate matter.

Hope you like him.... He is a little powerful, but he was built to play in my campaign.

Well done take on a low-level magic-user Emerald. I like it when a magician character has a specific focus to their magic and not just being a walking plot device, which is what they usually turn into.

_______________________________________________________________
Gil Bates is a multi-millionaire that made his money at a time when the computer industry was just starting. He was able to corner the market and grab hold of a niche that made him a very rich man. As the market grew so did his money. The day came when his power started to slip. An ever-growing technology industry made his niche smaller. Prior to the tech boom, Gil had been a nobody and even though he still was a very rich man, the addiction of power was one that he could not shake and in fact did not want to. The reality of the world is that information is power. Gil realized this and slowly he started to devise a way to gather information. He figured that with information, he would be able to recapture the power he longed for. He put a plan into place that would take years to come to fuition. He invested millions in research and development all the while secretly devising "other projects".
Bates created a suit that allowed him to directly connect his brain to the internet which in turn allowed him to access all information, with a thought. His quest for power did not stop there though. He continued to upgrade the suit until he was able to access any electronic device that he was in proximity, so long as it had a micro-chip in it. He could start a coffeemaker or download your PDA with a thought. With this new source of information, he again started to gain power. His mind started to operate more like a computer and less and less as a human. He became cold and distant.
Being able to access all the computers in the world, at the same time, allowed Bates the unparalleled ability to multi-task on unheardof levels. His suit was designed, tested and redesigned in moments and tactics are constantly being developed and upgraded. He IS the world wide web.

Here is a design that I have been wanting to number crunch for a while. I like the cartoon and obviously the character is a 'super'hero. It might make an interesting character running around with other Supers'.

Since there are very few (if any) builds of this character, I am basically building this from scratch. I'd appreciate any and all input... any suggestions?

Enjoy...

Wassup, EF?

I'm curious on your "Generator Rex" build... I see a lot of use of the "Linked" Extra. Despite knowing the definition of it from the rules, I can't seem to make sense of your use of it in most of the effect descriptions for this particular build.

So, for example:

    > Enhanced STR: Enhanced Strength 5 (Linked; +5 STR; Stacks with STR)
    > Slam Fists: Strength-based Strike 5 (Linked; Technological, DC 22)

What other effect(s) is(are) being linked with your use of the above examples?

Thanks!

Rodzilla,

I was trying to mimic the fact that the fists (and boots) are stronger than his normal strength level... SO... when activated, he gains +5 to his STR (normal STR + enhanced STR) and then has the damage of the fists... so I guess in total it would be..

NORMAL STR + ENHANCED STR + STRIKE

In this I hoped to show that this was why he would chose to use the fists over the sword or the cannon. When he needs STR to grapple an opponent, the fists are used.. but when he needs heavy hitting ability, he uses the cannon. I'm sure that it blows some caps but since I see him more as an NPC... I'm sure a kindler.. gentler PC-version could be built....

Nice to see Rex on here. You doing the others (Six, Holiday, Bobo, Van Kliess & The Pack...)?

And sooner or later someone's going to feel suicidal enough to do Ben 10 (and sequels)...

I might try the others... So long as the initial build losses muster.

I made a Ben 10-esque character in 2nd Edition. Maybe I should give it the 3E conversion treatment.

Be careful what you ask for... you might get it. :D

 This build was made/remade using the HEROLAB. I really have to say that I am impressed by the program. This is Legion_3E

________________________________________________________

Here is the background...

Bryan Carson, aka.. Legion started out his life in a hospital bed and continued to spend many of his first years there. Bryan was born with an extremely rare form of a genetic disorder. His D.N.A. was unstable and was prone to break-down when his immune system became stressed. This disorder made him extremely susceptible to illness and made the slightest illness potentially fatal. His father, an Air Force General, Jeffrey Carson, could only stand by and watch his son slowly die. Bryan’s mother spent every day by her son’s side. General Carson was desperate to help his son.
One day, an opportunity presented itself to General Carson. He was given the position to head up a secret research division that was given the task to take “discovered” tech and reverse-engineer it to use… potentially as a weapon. General Carson started to review the catalog of tech and discovered a device that was sitting, unused and forgotten. The device was marked as a “biological medical interface” and the research up to that point indicated that it managed genetic material, possibly for battlefield healing. General Carson saw this as a potential treatment or cure for his son. He assigned a unit of scientists to re-start work on the device and to stabilize it for human interface. Three (3) years passed and finally the device was ready. General Carson had taken this time to make contacts with other agencies that would work with him to help his son.
Once the device was ready, General Carson’s plans were put into action. His son was transferred to a private medical facility and the device was implanted. Almost immediately the device synchronized with the D.N.A. of Bryan’s body. Within 48 hrs, his D.N.A. had fully stabilized and he was quickly recovering. His father was ecstatic, as was his mother even though she questioned the use of alien tech. For the first time in many years, Bryan was healthy and the questions and concerns seemed to fall to the wayside. The device looked like a small crystalline gem, a little smaller than a fist, that was implanted into the skin on his left pectoral. As the years passed, the skin around the device healed and soon the it appeared as if the device had grown out of his body. Inside the changes were more drastic and would be unknown for many years. Bryan lived out his adolescents as a normal teen. His high school years flew by and soon he found himself going away to college. This would be a major change in his life in several different and some quite literal ways.
Bryan opted to move away from home to go to school. He wanted to prove himself strong enough to stand on his own. Bryan moved into the school’s dorms and started his academic studies. One evening he went out to get dinner. He was walking down the street we he suddenly heard squealing tires and somebody yelling. This was seconds before the drunk driver struck him. He was struck full-on by a large pick-up truck. His body suffered severe injuries. As he was lying on the ground he felt his consciousness slipping. This is when the device that was implanted in him all those years ago showed it’s real nature. All those years ago, it had been determined to be a medical implant. In truth, it did not just repair DNA, it stored examples of DNA and also had the ability to manipulate the host’s DNA. Bryan felt the device start to hum and then he felt a rush of energy pulse through his body. His body started to change. Massive streams of energy pulsed through his body as it grew and changed. His body changed into the form of Dansheen. He stood up and walked over to the car that had just struck him. He effortlessly tore the door off of the car. He pulled the driver out and put him down on the ground. He then started to tear the car apart. Dansheen’s powerful muscles tore the metal like it was paper. Bryan then left the area. A few blocks away, Bryan reached up and touched the device in his chest. Almost instantly, his form reverted back to his normal human form.
Over the next few months, Bryan played with his new ability and was able to find five distinctive forms in the system.
1) Dansheen (Heavily armored and super strong)
2) Neptanus (Amphibious creature that can swim incredibly fast underwater)
3) Velotis (Creature able to move at very high rates of speed)
4) Warlord (Hand to Hand combat and cloaking)
5) Zarmett (Ranged Energy Weapon)
Bryan suspects that this device was once designed to be some sort of an alien combat system. Bryan has not told his father about the device’s true nature and instead has opted to use the device to be a super-hero.

Darkmount is a name whispered in the dark circles of the criminal underworld. He is a shadow, whispered about but hardly ever seen. He operates behind the scenes and when he acts, it is with deadly efficiency.
Stories about Darkmount go back for multiple generations, leading people to believe that Darkmount is immortal or some supernatural force. In truth, there have been numerous people to wear the armor of Darkmount. The current wearer passes the armor to a successor or loses it to the successor.

The armor of Darkmount is an enigma in itself. Nobody, even the Darkmounts, know where the armor comes from or who created it. The armor is mystically empowered with remarkable powers. The armor can copy the powers of a person or allows the wearer to generate a power in response to an attacker. If the attacker is using fire-based attacks, the suit might generate a resistance to fire. This allows Darkmount to be able to combat anybody and be on their level.

Currently, Darkmount is heading a criminal network that spreads across the planet. He is quite possibly the most powerful person on Earth.
