Michael Cohen used to fall in with the wrong crowd, if only to spite his father. And he was good at things like intimidation and beating people up. Half the locals didn't want to go down a dark alley for fear of bumping into him. When his father died and the will was read, Michael was given a jewellery box and a letter.

The letter said that his father was the Golem, a legendary Jewish hero based on the monster of legend. All he had to do was wear the amulet, which was enchanted by kabbalists, and he could be as strong as the Golem! He was shocked! If only he had known...

There was only one thing for it. He would become the new Golem, and undo the mistakes of his past by preying on those who would threaten innocents. But he knew he couldn't do it alone, so when Dr. Green gave him an invite to this new team she was forming to fight supernatural threats, he said yes. He's been a Guardian ever since.

Start Spreadin' The News, Part 1

The Lodge, Brooklyn...

It's 10 A.M, the day after he arrived in NYC, and Simon's in the kitchen, on his phone, planning like nobody's business. Cass walks in, drinking a mug of coffee. She says to him "What are you doing, Simon?"

He showed her his phone, saying "I'm planning a route to get that video of us and the ponies over to a few media companies in town. I've already managed to find the New York branches of four of the best, so I know that word of why yesterday happened will spread once they get it."

Cass said "Well, you seem to know what you're doing. Which companies did you pick, exactly?"

"There's Current, they're quite good. The BBC have a bureau here, which should make it much easier for word of what happened to spread to Britain. And there's Fox and CNN. If one of them won't broadcast the video, I'll tell them that the other one would be interested in it, that should shut them up. All but Current have live feeds to Britain, so I know that word will spread back home."

"How are you going to reach Times Square after Current get the video?"

"I can fly at 120 MPH, Cass. I can make it to the BBC office in about ninety seconds at top speed. Afterwards, it'll take less than a minute to get to each of the last two. It'll likely take ten minutes for them to broadcast it once they see it. I already have the memory card, so I'm ready to go."

"Fair enough, I guess." Cass then tossed him a housekey, saying "I might not be here when you get back. That key will tell the security wards and the Mannequins that I'm allowing you in here. They won't attack you or call me."

"Thanks, Cass. Yeah, I'll see you later."


Simon then stepped out on to the streets of Brooklyn. A clear sunny day and very little wind meant that he had near-ideal flying conditions for a high-speed job like this. He let his wings come out, and took to the skies.

Simon's route to the Current office took him from Bay Ridge through the Red Hook district, over the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, then he went over Governor's Island. As he entered Manhattan, he flew over the Battery Maritime Building and over the World Trade Center site, where he hovered and briefly saluted before heading over to Hudson Street.

As he landed, he said to himself "Better start spreading the news..."

Complications
Addiction: Booker likes to drink and gamble a bit more than he ought to.
Enemy: Zachary Comstock wants Booker dead, to the point where he actually called Booker the "False Shepherd" in his Founder's Cult. This means that anyone affiliated with Comstock has the general reaction of "kill or die" if they realise that they're dealing with Booker.
Power Loss: Booker can wind up losing the use of his Vigors if he uses them too much. If that happens, he'll need to get some Salts in order to get his Vigors working again.
Reputation: Booker is known to have been part of the 7th Cavalry at Wounded Knee, and he was a Pinkerton afterwards before he was fired for engaging in 'conduct exceeding acceptable bounds', which is really saying something, given what the Pinkertons were doing back then.
Responsibility: For Elizabeth Comstock, by helping her escape from Columbia.

Booker DeWitt is from Bioshock Infinite, which is set in the flying city of Columbia. Booker's in debt to some nasty people, and they told him about Elizabeth, saying "Bring us the girl, and wipe away the debt." Compared to other Bioshock games, which happen after a major disaster, this is the one where you're right on time to see the chaos unfold in front of you!

From Bioshock Infinite, this "Heavy Hitter" is someone you don't forget about after you've been in a fight with it. The Motorised Patriot is basically a large robot made with Columbian technology that carries a man-portable Gatling gun, made to look like either George Washington or Abraham Lincoln (depending on whether it's controlled by the Founders or the Vox Populi).

Sakura is a second generation Anglo-Japanese woman who makes ends meet by being a webcomic artist. On her 20th birthday, she had a very vivid dream.

A beautiful Japanese woman smiled at her, saying "My greetings to you, Sakura. I am the kami Amaterasu. For generations, your bloodline has chosen to serve me by banishing those who belong to the darkness. If you choose to serve me, I cannot say that the path will be easy, nor can I say it will be simple. But walking it will help protect your world from those who wish to pervert it."

Sakura had been looking for a purpose for the past year or so, and it seems that it found her. She accepted the offer without hesitation.

Amaterasu said "I can give you some gifts to make it easier for you to help hold back the darkness. Power over the stuff of light itself, the power to heal grievous wounds with but a touch, and this amulet, which will protect you and allow you to realise the flow of magic around you."

Sakura said "Thank you, Lady Kami. I won't let you down."

Amaterasu said "When you wake, you will know that this is real and not just a dream. Go, with my blessing."

When Sakura woke up, she had her proof that her visitation was real when she saw that she was wearing the amulet... and a miko's hakama, knowing for a fact that she wore something else the night before.

This is the sort of clothing that Sakura woke up in.
As Sakura was walking around town wondering what to do, she heard that Dr. Green was forming a new team, focusing on supernatural threats. She discussed the matter with Green, who invited her into the Guardians. Sakura has since become the team's mythology specialist.

Start Spreadin' The News, Part 2

As Simon landed at Hudson Street, he realised that he messed up. He didn't have any DVDs on him to give to the bureaus, instead of the memory card. Good thing he found out now, rather than inside the office. He quickly looked up cyber-cafés in New York on his phone, and found one at 70 Greenwich Avenue, half a mile away as the crow flies. He knew from experience that it would take him about twenty minutes to copy the Celestia video to four DVDs. He walked into the café and asked the clerk "Excuse me, but how much is it for four blank DVDs with cases and an hour on the internet?"

"That'll be ten bucks. Take terminal number 4 over there. You can pay me afterwards."

"Thanks."

After Simon copied the video to the computer (which makes burning the video to the DVDs a lot easier), he went online to find out what everyone thought of him. On the public sites, there was a spectrum of opinions from 'Who does that sword-swinging psycho think he is?! Someone should arrest him ASAP!' all the way up to 'Finally, someone who actually knows how to stop threats like the Akimbo Assassin! The police need to leave him alone so some justice can be done for a change!'

One week. One. Week. That's all it took to get him from being a nobody to becoming the talk of the internet. Then he hit the Time in a Bottle's site. The Time in a Bottle is a London pub where every British super - both heroic and villainous - tries to have a drink at least once a month, usually on the first Thursday. Its website is known to be the best chat and forum site to talk to British supers, and Simon got an account within a week of being transformed. He checked the list of those who were inside the chatroom...

The other six people in the room were all well-known in Britain. Britannia for being apparently empowered by the Spirit of Britain and doing a lot of good, Cheetah for her rivalry with Wonder Woman, Dr. Green for finding the sort of things that go bump in the night... and then bumping them right back, Faceoff for his refreshingly direct and effective approach to crime-fighting and Lady Vic as a world-class assassin equal to the likes of Orion the Hunter or Bullseye, but much saner. Simon knew that although the Knight wasn't there, Squire would soon tell him what went on. He knew that what he said next would soon spread like wildfire with those six listening in.

Lady Vic: Some folk simply have no standards at all, Britannia. I hope you made it clear about what sort of trouble to expect.

Britannia: I certainly did. Being able to crush the top of a nearby stone bollard bare-handed works wonders for intimidating someone!

Griffin: Coming to you live from New York, it's the Griffin! How's everyone doing?

Faceoff: Griffin! You've been in NYC for about two days, and you've already stirred things up! Is it true that you met some talking ponies? And that you and Ms. Magus had a go @ Hexenhammer? *Please* tell me you stopped that bible-bashing bastard!

Griffin: True on both counts, Faceoff! Took the ponies on a tour of Manhattan myself! And we didn't beat Hexenhammer by ourselves. I managed to kill that traitor to all humanity in order to protect the girls, and his soul went into the hammer as usual (That's how someone from the Inquisition's heyday made it to the modern era). Before anyone could make their move, my Lady (the one who brought me back from death and empowered me) ordered everyone to sheath their weapons and not to touch the hammer. She picked it up, saying "I'm sure you know who and what I am, Herr Erich Adler." Hexenhammer was just begging for mercy that he knew the hard way just wasn't coming. I guarantee, looking my Lady in the eye can make a hard man brick themselves. My Lady then told Hexenhammer "The same mercy you gave those who selflessly used their talent in magic to help others? I'll see to you shortly, and then we'll see how much mercy you deserve." She squeezed the hammer and it simply disintegrated! Nothing has assured me just how powerful she was compared to seeing her being the only person who was immune to Hexenhammer's possession!

Squire: You're joking about all that, aren't you?!

Griffin: That was my first ever First Contact, Squire! I am *not* in a position to exaggerate. I swear, someone ought to write a book...

Dr. Green: What did your Lady do next?

Griffin: She walked right into Ms. Magus' house *without a single ward going off,* and Ms. Magus was still *pissed* from Hexenhammer's now-botched murder attempt. She had a spell in each hand, but I got in her way before she could use it. I made it quite clear to her that I was stopping her for *her* safety. I told her that my Lady wasn't there to harm the ponies and that it would probably be *against* her best interest to hurt the girls. We went to the basement where the portal back to their world was ready to be opened. That portal was opened from the other end, and I was just wowed by what I saw come out of it. A *very* large pony with a coat as white as snow, an unicorn's horn, a pegasus' wings and a mane that reminded me of the Aurora Borealis! I was nearly struck dumb at the sight of her!

Cheetah: What happened after that?

Griffin: I spoke to her and I learnt a few things about what was going on: Her name was Princess Celestia of the Kingdom of Equestria (I know! Some things just can't be made up!), it turns out that she sent the girls over to see if ponies could interact with humans (I made it rather clear what my opinion on her particular approach was) and that she knew my Lady before the incident. Celestia told me that my Lady claimed that I'd be more than able to protect the girls if they were in danger, and that I just proved her right! The video I have of Celestia was recorded after that conversation. Keep an eye on the news channels and on the internet, you might just see it! And I'll be seeing you later!

Simon soon had the video copied in good time. He also took the time needed to upload the video to Youtube, DailyMotion and Nico Nico Douga, remembering to add a link to the torrent in each video. As he went to pay the clerk, a man came in and put a gun to his head. The robber said "Give me all your money or you're gonna die, man!"

It was obvious from his voice that this guy was in withdrawal. Simon knew he couldn't kill the idiot without drawing heat, but he had no reason to go easy on a junkie. Simon completely unfurled his wings, saying "Listen to me! I am the Griffin of London, slayer of the Akimbo Assassin and Hexenhammer! Are you really that tired of living that you'd choose to commit suicide-by-cape?! Surrender now or die in pieces!"
Griffin rolls Insight and gets 13. He knows that the Thug who's putting a gun to his head sounds like he's trying to get another hit. He pops his wings and attempts to Intimidate him, getting 19. The Thug got 13 and surrendered!

The junkie put his gun on the counter and went down on his knees. Simon said to the clerk "Call the police. I'll keep this addled junkie from going walkabout until they arrive."

As the police arrived, Simon snuck out the back and flew back to Hudson Street at top speed...


Current Office, Hudson Street, Manhattan...

Simon had made it to Current's New York office, and this time he was prepared. As he went through the door, the receptionist said "Can I help you, sir?"

Simon told her "Actually, you can, ma'am. You see, I'm the Griffin of London-"

"Who helped Ms. Magus save Queen Mary 2? You're not going to start a fight, are you?"

"What? No! I'm here because I have a video that'll shed some light on what happened yesterday."

"With those ponies?"

"Yeah. I'm here because I have video footage of their ruler picking them up and bringing them home."

"Okay then, I'll ring the manager." The receptionist went on the phone and said "Sir, we have the Griffin of London here. He says that he has some more footage of those ponies. He's telling me that he somehow got footage of their ruler! Do you want me to send him in?" She then said "The Manager will see you now. Follow me please."


Manager's Office...

As Simon went into the office, the manager said "So, Mr. Griffin. I believe you have a very unique video to show me."

"I certainly do, sir. I have even more footage of ponies from another world."

"Give me a copy, and I'll soon see if it's worth showing."

"Here you are, sir. It's in MPEG format, so you'll need to use your computer to view it."

"That's fine by me."


Two minutes later...

"Yeah, we can use this. How exactly did you get this footage?"

"I simply asked her Royal Highness if Ms. Magus and myself could record her making the portal back to Equestria, which is what they call their world. Or at least the area of it where ponies are predominant. I told her that the video would prove her existence to humans. The video's in 1080p MPEG format so it should be much easier to make broadcast-ready."

"Okay, that's perfect. Now, about paying you..."

"I don't want any payment as I'm doing a public service here. If that video gets into your next news broadcast, I'll consider that to be payment enough. See you later!"

Ah, Rex Power Colt.
I have to agree, it's a fun game worrying less about making anything make sense and more about having a fun nostalga flashback to the bad sci-fi and action movies of the 80's. I think more of the companies could afford to learn from that.

Tabaluga is from a world where there are but three lands: Ice World to the north, where it is always winter, ruled by the snowman called Arktos, who wants the entire world to be covered in ice. To the south, there is an exceptionally dry Desert ruled by a sand spirit calling itself Humsin, who would see his entire world covered in sand.

Both those rulers were arrogant, and they both wanted nothing less than the world being completely covered in snow or sand.

And in the middle is the primarily forested area called Green Land, ruled by the kind dragon Tabaluga, who has spent his life fending off attacks, plots and schemes from the other two lands.

In the Betterverse, Arktos and Humsin formed a plan. They would both cast a ritual to send Tabaluga to another world, making Green Land open for conquest. The rituals worked, dragging Tabaluga and Happy, the snow hare who was his best friend, to another world. But the rituals exacted their price by dragging Arktos and Humsin there as well.

When they landed, they all found themselves in a city that the locals called "Berlin". Arktos and Humsin soon fled for the nearest pole and desert.

Tabaluga and Happy were invited by the TV channel ZDF to become the new hosts for their children's time-slot. This was in 1997. Even now, a couple of years after the show finished broadcasting, they are still well-known all over Europe.

Arktos was last sighted establishing a base in the Arctic Circle, and teaming-up with other villains on occasion.

Humsin's currently in the middle of the Sahara, still trying to figure out why people are calling him an "Efreet" or a "Djinn", whatever those are.

Tabaluga's stats are based on him being in the Betterverse. To make his stats closer to the original albums or the cartoon, remove Expertise: Acting, both non-native languages and Wealth, and use the 7 PP however you see fit.
