Yeah, plenty of them are terrible sterotypes... and unless you're British, you pretty much only have sterotypes. But you have Doctor Doom, that has to make up for a lot.

That's a good list there- where'd you find it? I had a heck of a time figuring out all the Foreigners in Marvel for my build set on them.

With the recent changes made to the DC Universe, as part of the sweeping New 52 relaunch, I have to admit that my normally vaunted powers of DCU OCD fail me. But in the Post-Crisis / Pre-New 52 verision of the DCU there were several fairly important Indian supers. Solstice (Kiran Singh) of the Teen Titans; Jinx from the Fearsome Five is a recurring Teen Titans baddie;Celsius (Arani Caulder nee Desai) from the Doom Patrol, her father was the super-villain Kalki (Ashok Desai); The Hyena (Jivan Shi) was a regular "jobber" (if I may borrow Thorpocalpse's phrasing) in Firestorm; the Suicide Squad had Ravan in the late `80s; and during the time Cassandra Cain was the star of Batgirl, we were introduced to a shapeshifting heroine named Aruna Shende in Mumbai.

Marvel seems to have done more with characters from India, but the New 52 relaunch is young yet. There was Pavitr Prabhakar, the Spider-Man from... well, Spider-Man: India; Thunderbird III (Neal Shaara) and team-mate Karima Shapandar (Omega Sentinel) were in X-Men together; Haven (Radha Dastoor) and Monsoon (Aloba Dastoor) were X-Factor bad guys in the mid `90s; Zero/One (Parul Kurinji) and her partner Black Fog (real name unknown) are more recent villains in the various Hulk books; and, last but not least, Shoba Mirza (Ghost Rider) from the pages of, um, Ghost Rider. All of those characters were said to be citizens of India. Timeslip (Rina Patel) of the New Warriors in Indian-American.

Marvel also made Indra -- as in the actual Vedic deity -- a sometime rival / sometime ally of Thor in the various books centered around the more famous Asgardian. I'll leave it up to you to decide if that counts as an character "from" India. But, if you consider Hercules to be Greek or Thor to be Scandinavian, I think Indra counts, although technically none of the Marvel universe gods are even from Earth!

I had to compile this list myself. I looked up profiles from the Marvel Wiki Database, plus the OHTMU.

I doubt it's complete, but these are the ones I am using and aware of at this time.

The Comic Book Religion Database might also be a fun/useful place to look. Although not every Indian character is a Hindu, and not ever Hindu character is Indian, there is bound to be an awful lot more overlap than most religions, given the demogrpahics of Hinduism in the real world.
