Happy birthday, Psi! And don't worry, 'cause 37 isn't that old. Especially with today's medical technology! That's a lot of spankings, though!

And now I'm working on changing details of personal version of Freedomverse aka Earth Prime once more. Bumping up starting date for characters to 2010 instead of 2005, thus need to update timeline, characters' ages and such before posting anything new. Doing this as it is easier to add in Emerald City and Silver Storm as recent things in setting, instead of trying to move them closer to 2005. :|

Also probably work on history, other details and stats to make them better fit the concept I have for the character.

Edit: Finished, with only some ages changed, adjusted when Gene Pulse happened to 2001, adjusted histories as needed to fit. Only added Sniper Sight to Grunt and lowered Technology skill to add Benefit [Burglar] to Snatch to better fit his concept. Hopefully some new stuff soon.

Chaos Virus

Postby Psistrike » Tue Feb 18, 2014 9:48 pm

Chaos Virus:
Its origin, nor the source of how it was unleashed upon the world, are unknown about the bizarre Chaos Virus. The first cases of those affected came about shortly before the start of WW2, some believing it to be a Nazi plot gone bad to this day. It is a viral organism with intense magical properties, with the infection rate, percentage of those infected who are altered somehow, and even the reasons why the virus affects individuals in such diverse ways all over the map.

One example is the entire city of Miami, California being exposed to the virus, yet only a few were infected and half that changed in some way. At least 3 recorded incidents have an entire town infected and everyone changed somehow. With no rhyme or reason for why the virus infects some but not others, while leaving some unchanged , it is easy to see why it was dubbed the Chaos Virus.

From all recorded cases, some details about the virus have come to light. It can affect any living being, as long as they have a metabolism to affect; even beings made of organic minerals have fallen victim to the virus. What the virus causes in a victim can be any number of things: from those who gain superhuman abilities without physical change; those transformed completely into beings out of myth, legend and even any form of fiction; anthropomorphic animals, beasts, and even monsters in both body and mind. There are individuals who have become duplicates or near-duplicates of fictional characters, from comics and cartoons, to t.v. shows, movies, and more. There is at least 1 Jessica Rabbit duplicate out there, along with a known mercenary for hire known as the Bugspool. a hybrid of Deadpool and Bugs Bunny who uses carrot-shaped guns.

Efforts to contain the virus have proven futial, as no means of tracking or containing it have proven effective so far. Despite the literal chaotic nature of the virus, some groups have attempted to modify the Chaos Virus to serve their own means. Few have succeeded so far, with what remains hardly what can be called even a variant of the Chaos Virus. Of these, a hidden group has made the greatest leaps, believed to be behind the DNAscent process. While COBRA has used it to create a virus which transforms those infected in various ways, always granting reptilian, mostly snake-based, abilities and physical features.

The unfortunate victim of the Chaos Virus are dubbed "Chaos Touched", a name given to them by the reporter who first interviewed the scientists studying the virus.

Secret [highlight to read]
The true source and origin of the Chaos Virus is the goddess Eris herself. Shortly after WW1 she began to see the chaos in the world begin to calm down and became bored, a dangerous thing for a goddess of chaos and discord to become. Seeking means to spread chaos around the world, but wishing to take as little effort as possible, she descided to use the humans own science against them. In the depths of Africa she discovered a dormant and highly malliable virus, which she modified to cause changes to any living being, but as chaotically as possible. Thus even she can't predict who will be infected, nor of those infected whom will be altered by the virus.

With her newest toy ready, she unleashed it upon the world just before the start of WWII. At first the numbers of those changed were small, but over time this has changed, with more infected suffering some form of physical alteration and more radical transforms began to show up. The mixture of nature and her goddess-level magic has prevented a means of innoculating against infection from being discovered, let alone a cure for existing victims. All the while Eris sits back and watches as her creation spreads chaos into the world, a wicked grin on her face.

Archimago's Artifacts

Postby Psistrike » Tue Feb 18, 2014 9:52 pm

Archimago’s Artifacts: Even those who work for the light can be dragged into darkness. John Fulton was a member of the Alliance, seeking to protect the world from dark magic and creatures. Yet his curiosity led him down a dark path, as he read from forbidden text stored by the Alliance, twisting his mind and soul. Soon he fled and ended up in the Brimstone House, becoming a student to Silas the Elder for many years. But what he was offered wasn't enough; he became a conventional master villain during the 1980s and early 1990s. As his greed for power grew, Archimago as he became known, embarked on many shcemes and fought many heroes.

He brokered many deals from extradimensional evils for power, always abandoning his backers for bigger fish when they wwere no longer useful; moving from demons and demon lords, to elder gods, eventually striking a deal with The Ancient Ones themselves. At the height of his power, Archimago was ironically felled by a simple heart attack and following his death, the most powerful members of the Alliance, the Order of the Dragon, and the Brimstone House came together with Eldrich and several other independent mystics to work and weave every spell and contingency they could think of to ensure Archimago would NEVER rise again. But the twisted wizard was clever, leaving behind various little "trinkets" that can still affect the world in his absence, insuring his legacy will never be forgotten.

To date the criminals Baron Darkness, Bellezza, Fomor and Evil Eye, along with Claremont Academy student Balefire, are just a few among many that have somehow gained possession of some of these artifacts and have become warped into menaces that threaten society on a regular basis. Yet Balefire's seeming immunity to the corruptive nature of the ring he wields are being studied, with Eldrich and the Alliance attempting to figure out how to duplicate this for others.

Note: Based on Champions Archimago details and Tattooedman's WoF post on the artifacts.

Complications
Motivation: Jessica is driven by the love of entertaining and the thrill of spying on criminals.
Fame: Jessica Bunny is known in New York and beyond, being a worldwide celebrity due to her appearance alone.
Reputation: She has a reputation as being a slut, sleeping with men left and right, drawing the ire of more than a few women.
Secret: The fact she is a police informant is kept a secret from the public.

Notes
 Pretty boy turned toon hottie, she still gets by on her looks and charm. To the world, she is an example of how far the Chaos Virus can change someone.

History: Jared was a pretty boy, getting by on his looks and charm. Coasting through high school and even college, there seemed to be nothing he couldn't get by just asking. But his secret obsession with cartoon women would prove to be his downfall, at least indirectly. Meeting some friends at a local convention, he was shocked they were showing what he considered a classic, Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

The projectionist was a carrier of the Chaos Virus, unknowingly exposing several convention goers to the virus. By the time he got home, Jared began to have strange sensations, as he witnessed first his clothes and then his body changing before his eyes. He was a living, breathing toon, a real life Jessica Rabbit! She began to panic until her mind started to change as well, finding her new form perfect and knowing she could do so much more now. But not wishing to get sued for copyright infringment, she decided to go by Jessica Bunny.

She easily got a job at a local night club in New York, a regular headliner as many fans of the Roger Rabbit movie came to see her. She had her choice of men each night and soon became skilled at manipulating information out of others. She became connected and well-informed about the goings on in New York and beyond, even acting as a regular informant for the police. This was the good life and she had forever to enjoy it.

Description: Jessica is every bit as voluptuous with exaggerated feminine features and the looks of a living toon as her original namesake. Her long red hair down to past the middle of her back, while her green eyes show a seductive and mischievous nature. Her pale toon skin is flawless, with only red lipstick and purple eyeshadow standing out. She is always seen in her trademark outfit, a slinky red dress slit up one side, blue opera gloves and a pair of red 4" heels.

Personality: Sultry and outgoing, she uses her looks and charm to disarm others and get them to open up to her. She loves getting attention from men and will flirt shamelessly with any man that catches her attention. But despite all this she is actually fairly intelligent and observant, watching and listening to everything around her.

Powers and Abilities: As a living toon, she recover from any harm in short-order, even coming back from seeming death in minutes. She has no true need to eat or drink and can survive in any environment, with no need to even breath. The only true threat to a toon like her is a mixture called "Dip", made of acetone, benzene, and turpentine, lethal to toons and disolving them in seconds with enough of it.

Her appearance is literally too hot to ignore, anyone attracted to women tend to be distracted by her looks, even to the point of doing anything she ask as long as they can see her.

Tactics: She has little to no combat skills, although she is unusually accurate with ranged weapons. In a fight she will try to disable others with her looks and even get some of them on her side if possible. If given no other option, she will run and leave opponents to those better able to deal with them. She is more of an information gatherer and lover than a fighter.

Allies: Various local police count her as a valued informant and more than a few men of positions of power would do anything for her at the drop of a hat.

Enemies: She has no true enemies to speak of, although some local mobs would prefer her to keep her trap shut about any dealings which she overhears.

Complications
Motivation: Bugspool is driven both by greed and a desire to make the world a loonier place.
Carrots! I just love them!: Bugspool has a crippling addiction to carrots and will do anything to get them.
Enemy: Orion the Hunter is annoyed at the merc and will do anything to harm him given the chance.
Loony Tunes: He is loonier than a pack of ferrets, having multiple conversations going on in his head with...himself. He can drift off into his own fantasy world, even in the midst of intense combat.
Reputation: Everyone who has heard of him knows he is crazy, most refuse to work with him, despite the fact her sometimes forces himself onto a team for a time.

Notes
 A Chaos Virus victim turned into a character amalgam, his former personality was overwritten by the Bugspool's personality.
 Some toon props he uses a lot include:
Bugs Blades: Slashing Strength-Based Damage 3, Critical 19-20, Split; 9 ep.
Twin Carrot Pistols: Ranged Multiattack Ballistic Damage 8, Split; 25 ep
Carrot Rifle: Ranged Multiattack Ballistic Damage 5; 1 ep
Toon Grenades: Ranged Area Burst Concussive Damage 5; 1 ep
Carrot Spikes: Ranged Multiattack Piercing Damage 1; 1 ep
Toon Mallet: Bludgeoning Strength-Based Damage 4, Critical 19-20; 1 ep
Bugspool Cycle: Size: Medium; Strength: 2; Speed: 7; Defense: 10; Toughness: 8; Features: Navigation System, Oil Slick; Cost: 14 ep

History: Nothing is known of the being dubbed Bugspool, beyond him being a victim of the Chaos Virus who lost his identity with the transformation. He is now a zany, unstable nutjob known to talk to himself and make puns and bad quips in the middle of a fight. He is a mercenary whose price can be filled by carrots if need be. He has already annoyed Orion the Hunter on numerous occassion and the assassin seeks to end him once and for all.

Description: Appearing to be Bugs Bunny for the most part, he is never seen out of his Bugspool costume. His fur is gray, he has a cute cotton tail, long ears and big feet. His Bugspool costume is basically Deadpool's costume but resized and fitted for him. He seems to have a pair of small katanas in sheaths on his back, while he carries a pair of pistols shaped like carrots. He has other gear he can pull out as needed, basically toon props which can't truely be taken away from him.

Personality: He is loony, zany, and unstable, most of the time talking to himself and not seeming to know the difference between right and wrong sometimes. He is completely unpredictable and will pull wild, off-the-wall moves which leave others blinking in shock.

Powers and Abilities: Bugspool has physical abilities far greater than a normal toon rabbit, with superhuman stamina and healing even faster than other toons. His mind is so messed up, it is difficult at best to try and affect his mind and he can actually see through the Fourth Wall, talking to beings no one else can see.

He is truely immortal except for "Dip", which can kill him like any other toon. He doesn't age and can survive anywhere, no matter how hostile it is to normal lifeforms. He can pull toon props out from behind his back or from behind any structure, normally keeping his carrot guns and Bugs blades out all the time unless he needs to use the Bugspool cycle.

Tactics: Carrots guns, Bugs blades, toon grenades, you never know what he will pull out or do next. Never do the same move twice unless you think it will catch an opponent off-guard and always use attacks which take out multiple opponents at once. When "working with" a known team, try to fit in your own unique way and remain as unpredictable as ever.

Allies: Those who employ him never truely consider him an ally, as he is too unpredictable.

Enemies: He has made many foes but none has he annoyed so much as Orion the Hunter, who wishes to end him once and for all.

Thanks, I actually used your stats of Jessica Rabbit with some changes to skills and additional Advantages for Jessica Bunny's stats. Thorapocalypse's Deadpool and someone's [forget who] 2nd edition Bugs Bunny stats were used with various changes for Bugspool. And yes, the image I used for Jessica Bunny, I hesitated at first because of the artist name on deviantart. :|

Love the Bomber bunny idea, working a home rules serious game in which I will be a player.
Point of reply: Love bomber Bunny, want to redeploy for "shock & awww" by developing my own version as a back up character for said game. "Beware of cute & cuddle types" - some guy

Thank you for being inspiring. 8)
That was what I thought it was, right?

Toughness 8, Fortitude 3, Will 14

Power Points
Abilities 44 + Powers 186 + Advantages 1 + Skills 13 [26 ranks] + Defenses 12= 256 Total

Complications
Power: Iron Duke is driven by a desire for power and to rule over all, just to prove he is supirior to all other beings.
Identity: No one has figured out the man wearing the mask is possessed, nor the identity of the duke connected to the iron mask yet.
Reputation: He is known as a ruthless, would-be ruler who punishes any who defy him harshly.
Secret: Figuring out the true name of the duke and using it in a ritual to free his possessed host would trap him inside the mask once more, unable to interact with the world.

Notes
 A dangerous individual due to his powers, he is only PL 8 defensively. But he has the power to afflict others with illusionary conditions and control their minds. With his 8 knights by his side and mind controlled innocents between him and authorities/heroes, he is difficult at best to stop, almost impossible to capture.

History: The person behind the mask was lost the day he put it on. Back in the 15th century, an arrogant duke believed that his natural intelligence gave him the divine right to rule all of England. Discovering hidden tomes on dark magic, he learned quickly and soon could summon forth what he dubbed his "knights", black armored beings wielded shield and sword, their glowing red eyes causing fear in all who saw them.

But before his plans could come to fruition, the locals captured him and bound him in an iron mask, before executing him for practicing witchcraft. But his spirit refused to move on, latching onto the mask and awaiting the day when someone would foolishly put it on.

Discovered and placed in a museum in Britain, its true history unknown, it was believed to be a mask worn by a noble knight. And worth a pretty penny to the right buyer. Which is what drew the attention of a cat burglar, taking the mask and attempting to escape when he tripped the alarm. Seeing no way of climbing out of the skylight with his hands full, he put on the mask, everything fading to black.

When the guards found him, the duke was gazing in awe of what wonders the world had in this new age. When they told him to put his hands behind his head, he said they dare to command their new ruler. Before they had a chance to blink, he placed them under his control and walked right out the museum. But the mask had been moved, currently on loan to a museum in New York. But he remained undetered, the world would be his.

Summoning his "knights", he began to amass an army of mind controlled minions when the Sentinels interveined. Most of them gave him trouble, not falling to his mind control, except for Sapphire and Slipstream who he was able to wear down. But giving him the most trouble was Red Phoenix, as she not only resisted his spells but took down knight after knight. Using the mob under his power, he fleed but vowed that New York would be the center of his kingdom someday. Since this first encounter, he has faced the Sentinels numerous times, failing and fleeing before capture each time.

Description: An average looking Caucasian male, most of his skin is covered except for his hands. The iron mask covers his face, only revealing his eyes, and letting his black hair hang out behind it. He wears a tan sweatshirt with some blue, a wide collar encircling his neck. A pair of blue jeans, frayed with time, and black army boots are all he has to his name.

Personality: Iron Duke is an arrogant intellectual, one who believes his natural intellect and force of personality make him the better of any man. Those who defy him will face his wrath, either at the hands of his knights or facing a mob of the very people they protect. He completely overpowered the original owner of his body and believes nothing will stop him taking over the world.

Powers and Abilities: Iron Duke has studied black magic, but only can cast a few spells at will, most requiring lengthy rituals. He can control the minds of countless people at once and cast powerful illusions into the minds of others, making them believe whatever he wants them to.

But his most powerful spell is the ability to summon 8 "knights", each clad in black armor and wielding a large shield and enchanted longsword. These "knights" recover from injuries quickly and are immune to mortal concerns, their bodies and minds shielded from many threats. Their shields draw projectiles towards them and help to shield from area attacks; while their longswords are sharp enough to slice through solid steel with ease, along with inflicting wounds which take a long time to heal and can harm even ghosts, spirits, and other insubstantial beings.

Tactics: Iron Duke first shows up with his 8 "knights" surrounding him, taking control first any authorities like the police in the area, then any others he can. When faced with superheros he will first attempt to control their minds, failing this he will attempt to have his "knights" subdue them. If all else fails, he will have his "knights" and any mind controlled minions shield his escape, vowing to come back later and succeed.

Allies: Beyond his "knights", Iron Duke has no known allies, even rejecting an offer to join F.O.E.

Enemies: The Sentinels are his most persistent foes, with Red Phoenix being a true thorn in his side. He has vowed to somehow make her his bride and future queen of his empire.

Constructs: Constructs formed from elements from another dimension, they can be affected by powers with Affect Objects extra. They use Toughness to resist such powers.
Mute: They are unable to speak and communicate through physical actions and intimidate through their strength and glowing red eyes.

Notes
 Powerful, unliving "knights" wielded enchanted shields and powerful longswords capable of slicing through nearly anything, they protect Iron Duke with their lives.

Description of Powers/Gear: Armored bodies formed from unknown elements in another dimension, these "knights" can survive anywhere, untiring and relentless beings with no needs beyond serving their master. They can see through any form of concealment and in the darkest of areas, even invisible foes find they can't hide from the "knights" eyes. Their bodies heal on their own, simply repairing and reforming any damage parts and faster than a human heals.

Their shields attract projectiles towards them and help to shield against area attacks; they use these to leap into the way of attacks on Iron Duke. Their longswords can cut through nearly anything and are imbued with powerful enchantments; capable of harming insubstantial foes and inflicting wounds which take time to heal.

Description: Beings with bodies made of black armor, the only thing seem through the visor in their helmets is a pair of glowing red eyes. Superhumanly strong and tough, they are hard to put down and work together to subdue opponents or to shield Iron Duke. Their armor suggest they are from a hell dimension, their shield and longsword made of a black metal which seems to absorb any light which touches it.

Ah! Once more I am obscure!

DeadMau5 is one of the bigger names in techno/house djs. Sorta like Daft Punk being robots, DeadMau5 has a mouse thing going.

Central Park after the Gene Pulse event

Central Park after the Gene Pulse event
The "Gene Pulse" event left a lot more than humans in Central Park changed. 9 years later and it hasn't been the same since. Most plants and animals simply gained minor enhancements [greater fortitude, tougher bark/stalks, etc., enhanced strength, stamina, agility, speed, etc.] but some of them were radically altered in ways science is still seeking to understand.

A small grove of trees in the mid-west section of the park had to be cordoned off, the trees attacking anything bigger than small animals which came near with powerful roots. Dubbed Lasher trees, these altered trees are predatory and feed off the blood of any prey they can capture. Although still photosynthetic and sustained by water, blood allows them rapid growth, the blood of a human-sized victim allows them to grow between 1-2' in just hours after feeding. The original cordons have been replaced by a 2' thick, 8' tall reinforced concrete wall extending to 20' past the furthest tree on each side.

Complications
Plant: They are driven by pure instinct to hunt prey larger than small animals, sensing any large vibrations in the ground they will strike with their roots. They are vulnerable to toxins designed to affect plants, although hardier than most trees their size. They are rooted to the ground and incapable of movement beyond their roots and trunk maw.

Notes
 Dangerous mutated trees, they are terrifiying upclose, as their roots tear up from the ground and strike at their prey, eventually grabbing them and moving their prey towards the awaiting toothy maw which opens in the middle of their trunk.

Description of Powers: Lasher trees are dangerous plants, hardier than most trees and capable of feeding on blood to accelerate their growth exponentially. Up to 6 of their thick roots can become animated and strike at any prey which comes within 15' of the tree. Hitting with incredible strength, they can wrap around their prey, delivering it to the waiting toothy maw which opens in the middle of its trunk.

The average tree stands between 12-15', as authorities have done everything to curtail their blood feeding. Their roots allow them to feel even the slightest vibrations through the ground and use it to lash out at prey. The toughness of their bark has been greatly increased, almost like a thin layer of iron protecting the tree. They heal rapidly and can regrow lost branches and roots within hours. These tough, rapidly regrowing roots keep them firmly rooted to the ground and dig in deeper if someone tries to dig up the tree or tear it from the ground.

Description: A grove of unknown trees, 20 strong, with bark the color of iron and standing between 12'-15' feet tall. Warning signs on the wall surrounding the grove detail the lasher trees and their threat, yet some idiot teens always seem to dare each other to climb the wall and see the trees for themselves. So far no one beyond a few large dogs early on lost their lives, but giving these trees blood is a bad idea.

Due to their unique nature, they are considered a protected species, yet one which must be kept isolated from all other life.

A large group of squirrels was altered to have an unusual form of hypnotic gaze, causing those who catch their eye to feel compelled to give them food. [Simply add this to normal squirrels: Hypnotic Gaze: Perception Range Affliction 6 [Resisted and Overcome by Will; Entrance, Compelled], Cumulative, Limited Degree, Limited to being compelled to give them food, Sense-Dependent [Visual] • 6 points]

A patch of grass on the south side of Central Park, covering half an acre of land, was changed into what has been dubbed Razor Grass. It is colored a strange purple-iron grey shade and can grow up to 6" tall. The grass is razor-sharp and cause a lot of bleeding from various cuts, the first 2 victims were its last before it was cordoned off by the city.

They had run into the grass and stopped after 5', their feet and legs suffering various cuts and bleeding a lot. Rescued by authorities, the grass grew within an hour from 1/4 of an acre to 1/2 acre simply by feeding on the amount of blood the two lost. Just like the lasher trees, they are unique and considered a protected species. The barrier is 1' thick, 4' tall reinforced concrete, with a mesh covering on top allowing rain and sunlight in but nothing bigger than small insects through.

Razor grass is a threat represented by these stats: Razor Grass: Reaction [stepping on or moving through it] Damage 1 [slashing and piercing], Feature 1 [Blood growth] • 5 points The size of the razor grass patch doesn't matter, as it isn't considered an Area effect, only triggering the damage once per round you move through.

The strangest mutation is the garbage pigeons, a flock of pigeons altered by the Gene Pulse to be able to safely digest any form of garbage, organic or inorganic. Their "waste" takes on the form of an organic plastic which can be processed for various uses. [Not a threat so no stats needed.]
