Re: Ranged Damage at Close range

Here's something that could be interesting: Benefit 1 [Can use Parry defense in place of Dodge defense against attackers that are within HtH range] So with this benefit, the defender (let's call him "Batman") could Parry anyone foolish enough to pull a gun when they're close enough for Batman to pu...

Re: Ranged Damage at Close range

Parry does not necessarily suggest you're turning aside an attack bodily. It could just be ducking a weaving at close range. Lets not put too much emphasis on the name when it's just a label for easy reference and not actually a rule. Point taken But even still, a melee defense would be less effect...

Re: Ranged Damage at Close range

I'd like to point out that we seem to be hung up on guns for ranged attacks here in supers land where most ranged attacks comeout of the palms of peoples hands, from the tips of their fingers, out of their eyes or mouth, or from some big O in the middle of their chest...could realy make this into a...

Re: Analyzing Affliction

Building to concept does not mean picking the weaker option. Picking the stronger option does not mean your roleplay is less pure. Combat capability and roleplay/flavour are not mutually exclusive. Saying "You should not balance X because it is balanced by concept" implies that the stronger effects...

Re: Analyzing Affliction

I believe that trying to create balance in this power to the degree that is being discussed is rather futile. If you want to power-game then don't choose the weaker of the effects at each tier; If you want your affliction power to have some flavor and don't care if it's effects are maximized, so lon...

Re: Converting a campaign from M&M 2e to DCA...

We've already done plenty of Grappling... I had a colossal Baddy who grabbed their beatstick character and started whaling on the rest of them... it took the whole group to break his grip on the poor little paragon-dude... Maybe I'll convert that character over to illustrate how much weaker grapple ...

Converting a campaign from M&M 2e to DCA...

I have been running a campaign for over 2 years now using M&M 2e rules and have just finished converting my PCs to DCA characters (Took longer than I expected but I like building characters so it was enjoyable... ...not sure if I can say I'm looking forward to converting all of my NPCs, though...) A...

Re: Are you tired of a certain power?

Does it help if you focus on what your players want the power to do rather than how it does? For example, a player who wants to do a precog might be interested in using his power for enhanced defense and being a general know-it-all. how about a container with the "precognitive" descriptor that incl...

Re: Are you tired of a certain power?

I'm dealing with a player who has Animate Object, and keeps trying to use it on enemies' equipment (i.e., powers bought as Devices). No matter how many times I explain that Animate can't be used to turn a sword or energy gun on its owner, or make their Armor knock themselves out, I keep seeing it. ...

Re: New gm looking for advice

Thanks for the advice people. A new set of questions have come up and it’s a bit more tricky to answer its about advancing and motivations the character. Its about something’s that my players have said. 1.first how do you advance your character when you feel that their not any more things that need...

Re: Everyboy's Invulnerable (New GM, New Game)

We're playing with the 1st edition books. Ah, that's something that would have been useful to know, because I've never laid eyes on 1e. Ya, Nor I and 3e is soon to be released... I hope there aren't any huge changes like this in the next book, I'll have to re-write most of my NPCs and re-work my PC...

Re: Everyboy's Invulnerable (New GM, New Game)

(Force field, in fact, simply raises defense so it's harder to hit, not hurt, the character) Wrong. Shield simply raises defense (it's essentially Sustained Enhanced Dodge Focus). Force Field is a Sustained Protection power which does indeed add to your toughness save. Woops, My bad, I always flip ...

Re: Everyboy's Invulnerable (New GM, New Game)

No, none of them took the Toughness feat. And I was just using invulnerable in the generic sense of "having a defensive power." I'm not familiar with a power called "Impervious." The actual defensive powers are Protection 10, Armor 10, and Force Field 10. And it's my understanding that any attack s...

Re: Help with some stuff?

Well, They got the materials but the ship still isn't built... They're still dealing with the guys trying to take over earth so there's still time to need more materials.
