Re: BARON's 3ed thread!: Earth 53 Atom & Zatanna

Baron, I love the unique twists and takes you're using for these Earth 53 characters. That truly alien but still caring and heroic Martian Manhunter is probably my favorite so far. thanks! in my head, somebody weird like JH Williams III would draw it. It would be a really acid trippy book when J'on...

Re: Star Trek Into Darkness [May 17, 2013]

It's a very slow burn for me : after the 2009 Star Trek I gave JJ the benefit of the doubt. I'm a lifelong Star Trek fan. I know what Star Trek is and when it's good. I've watched some pretty terrible Star Trek and I've watched stuff that's tried to be good, but isn't really Star Trek. The 2009 reb...

Re: Kick-Ass film [ April 16, 2010]

I read Kick Ass 2 when it came out. I thought it was a hugely underwhelming sequel.

Re: BARON's 3ed thread!: Earth 53 Martian Manhunter

just a heads up. both the Atom and Zatanna have been statted up for Earth 53. Check the previous page. some notes about appearances. I can't find redesigns that I'm satisfied with. the Atom : With Atom, it's pretty simple. You keep the red and blue look. The current female Atom in the New 52 looks o...

Re: J-Mart: Overshadow, Cops, Soldiers, Cardiac

At some point I read or heard that Ock's arms could punch with the force of a jackhammer. I'm like "yeah that's awesome. He could wear anything at that point. Nothing is too ridiculous for a guy with four arms that each punch as hard as a jackhammer"

Re: J-Mart: Overshadow, Cops, Soldiers, Cardiac

in a way I dig that about Spidey's villains. Some of the really crappy looking ones are actually dangerous as hell if you think about it; Electro, Rhino, Green Goblin, Doc Ock (green and yellow spandex era), etc... the stuff they can do is as terrifying as they are ridiculous to look at imo.

Re: J-Mart: Overshadow, Cops, Soldiers, Cardiac

aw, yeah. Cardiac. The 90s strikes again. Who wears an outfit like that and expects to be taken seriously? I swear, spidey has some silly looking villains; it almost overshadows the good bad guys he tangles with.

Re: Jab's Builds: X-23, Loa, Nate Grey, Armor, Mimic, Darwin

definitely share your hatred of X-Man. The 90s was the worst buzzkill for me as a comics fan. When the X-books went from edgy to just a parody of themselves, it killed my enthusiasm in the worst way. That was my adolescence. To this day I still feel too "mature" for anything X related 8) my "Firefly...

Earth 53 restats: the Atom, Zatanna, Hawkgirl, the Question

So, next, I want to tackle some non-featured characters in my Earth 53. This post will be under construction for a bit while I add to it. First up, we have the Atom. Doctor Susan Choi is a celebrity physicist turned superhero who spends more time in a lab really than fighting super villains. Think o...

Re: BARON's 3ed thread!: Earth 53 Martian Manhunter

I found the backstory with Dinah difficult to be satisfied with. She's essentially a supporting character in Ollie's book who can hold her own and distinguishes herself as a strong female in comics. I wanted to play on that and borrow a bit from Ted Grant as a prize fighter who turns superhero. Othe...

Re: BARON's 3ed thread!: Earth 53 Martian Manhunter

you kept Dick in the picture with Bruce instead of leapfroging him... Of course I've yet to see your re-imagining of my absolute favorite (non-Golden Age) DC character (assuming there will be one), Hawkman. yeah, Dick Grayson in the role of Robin gets no love. Everyone is so wrapped up in him as Ni...

Re: BARON's 3ed thread!: Earth 53 Martian Manhunter

I thought that the team needed a Scarlet Witch or Phoenix like character who was kind of a powder keg. I was never very interested in his origin as written. I tried to tie the fate of the Martians in with his powers more. It needed to be better packaged.

Re: BARON's 3ed thread!: Earth 53 Martian Manhunter

that sidebar as promised. I like the idea that Martian Manhunter emulates these bizarre creatures that feel very prehistoric. It's like a HP Lovecraft version of Beast Boy. SIDEBAR: Martian Morphology J'onn is able to change shape and assume the form of almost anything he wishes, but he tends to use...
