Re: SCARE sheet: People's Paradise of Africa part 1

Sigh. You're probably right. It's just been a bit bumpy lately and a new Gadget Guide always cheers me up.

Re: SCARE sheet: People's Paradise of Africa part 1

I'd like to point out that when a Gadget Guide wasn't released on schedule a while back, rather than post it a week late we got a SCARE Sheet, but when a SCARE Sheet misses its weekly release it gets posted the following week. I'm sure there's stuff going on behind the scenes that I'm not aware of, ...

Re: Problem with PMing

Ah. Thank you. I'm afraid I sent multiple copies thinking there was a problem on my end. Oops.

Problem with PMing

I've been carrying on a conversation via PM but all of a sudden I seem to be unable to send a message. Every time I try they just pile up in my Outbox. Anyone know what might be causing the problem?

Re: Are house rules OK to discuss here?

...MnM is my favorite system, and I love it... I completely agree. On the one hand I completely love this system and on the other I love reading about and coming up with house rules. To the point that it begins to sound like an unhealthy relationship, "I love you, now change." I find tinkerin...

Re: Hold your Breath: Variant Rules

Interesting. I realize we are dealing with comic books physics here, but 10 rounds is a minute and I actually don't know that many people that can hold their breath that long AND actually do anything. I would think that would be lower for "normal" humans. I like that exception for high stamina char...

Re: Man of Steel 2013 film SPOILERS

First, a few things I forgot to mention. That bit when Jor-El is speaking to his son for the last time and gives the "what if a child imagined something greater" speech. It's another one of those moments in the film that falls flat. It feels very out of place. A much better location for it would hav...

Re: Man of Steel 2013 film SPOILERS

Nice video. I'm particularly happy to see the guys from redlettermedia. They do great work. I agreed with most of the stuff in her review, except her conclusions. Gotta compose my thoughts and write a response. I also want to include a number of things I forgot to mention in my analysis. That's what...

I think if you rearrange the words in that sentence a little bit it'd be more accurate. That all I'm gonna say.

Re: Man of Steel 2013 film SPOILERS

Man of Steel opens with the birth of Kal-El on Krypton. While the choice of opening scene is appropriate considering the subtext of messianic savior running through the film, it also demonstrates a recurrent problem with the film – the abrupt cuts away from deeply personal and emotional moments befo...

Re: SUPERMAN (man of steel)

Man of Steel : Immunity 10 (life support), Leaping 15 (30 miles), Protection 6 (impervious 10), Regeneration 2 (requires direct yellow sunlight) * 42 points I like this adaptation of the Man of Steel Superman. Just wondering, though, about maybe making Leaping an AE of Strength? Makes more sense th...

Re: Rethinking Defenses

Damn. I knew I shouldn't have started this thread when overtired. Minor correction: Toughness CAN be increased by purchasing the Defensive Roll advantage, BUT it's not normal unrestricted Toughness. That requires the Protection power.

I suppose that's another wrinkle to deal with. Any thoughts?

Rethinking Defenses

I have this half-baked idea about changing the way Defenses are handled in the game. My thinking goes like this: The way M&M is designed, when two characters are in conflict with each other they use an opposed check to determine the outcome. Numerous examples are given in the rulebook, like Stealth ...

Re: Need Math: How would this change the game?

OK... how about a hail of armor piercing bullets? Penetrating hits do minimum Damage in 3E. It doesn't even really matter how many ranks you apply; the important thing is to land the hit, inflict the penalty, 'cause eventually Superman-- heck, Galactus-- will go down. What if Penetrating was made t...
